When people talk about “merit-based immigration”, they aren’t talking about replacements for Americans laid off at Disney. They mean All of Us. We are graduate students doing research in top ranked US Institutions. Read our letter in Miami Herald. @SenRickScott @ChrisHartline

CRS concluded even if this bill became law, the backlog would double in 10 years. Green-card delays would increase and expand — especially for Latin America. That would badly hurt Florida, as Sen. Scott courageously points out. @SenRickScott @ChrisHartline

Yesterday I had a closing with a couple of professionals. He is a doctor from Somalia working at a Miami hospital and his wife who works for a huge transitional company in Miami. If SB386 passed removing country caps Florida would b < successful. Country caps protect minorities. – at Philadelphia, PA

Why would a “grassroots” not for profit trying to alleviate the problems of high skilled legal immigrants block me @ChrisHartline ? Apparently because I oppose SB386 yet fully support comprehensive immigration reform. This group is a farse and its tactics are disgusting. – at Key Biscayne, FL

Proponents of S.386 constantly bashed and insulted @SenatorDurbin for months for his opposition to the bill. Now they are using his amendments to argue that S.386 does not hurt trade, tourism and transportation! Hypocrisy at its finest. #NoS386

Every time S386 UC is blocked, its proponents ironically claim-with sophisticated logic-that other 99 Senators “support” it. W/ these unfounded claims, they have zero credibility in Congr.! @ChuckGrassley

Those writing about S386 must at least mention the massive negative impact on Florida’s economy. @jescanal writes one doctor would benefit but fails to note how the bill essentially shuts down ALL employment-based immigration from Latin America over at least the next 2 years. /1
U.S. Sen. Rick Scott is pushing back against a bipartisan bill that would make changes to the U.S. immigration system, but a Central Florida man wants to see it pass specne.ws/kqEP1G

Monday morning news - the @senatemajldr is trying to push @SenMikeLee’s immigration bill #S386 through via unanimous consent. Who do these GOP Senators work for, apparently not me or American workers.
Congress is trying to re-write our immigration laws without even a single vote in the U.S. Senate. As written, it would hurt American workers and FL businesses and threaten the diversity we cherish.

Changes to our immigration laws must be fair to American workers and make sense for our economy, as well as for those around the world hoping to share in the American dream.
Unfortunately S.386 would harm, not help, Florida’s economy. Read more in my @MiamiHerald Op-Ed ⬇️
