WATCHING—The U.S. State Department is monitoring a reportedly fatal case of "pneumonia of an unknown etiology" linked to a plague research laboratory in Russia. Health authorities in Russia's Irkutsk region launched anti-epidemic measures after an employee of a plague institute was diagnosed with "pneumonia of an unknown etiology”. The lab involved is the Anti-Plague Research Institute in Shelekhov, in southern Siberia, Russia. The statement comes after some Russian media and public figures reported a death potentially due to the plague and linked to a lab worker. Russian officials did not provide further details on the worker. Amid the investigation, some protective measures have been announced in the region. A mask mandate has been implemented at the Irkutsk Aluminum Plant in Shelekhov, according to the plant's director, Artem Fominykh.

The horror has come to our city: ICE has shot a person in Austin this morning.
As the facts emerge, I am demanding a full, independent investigation, immediate release of the body camera footage, and accountability for any ICE officer who broke the law.
Over and over, ICE has shot people and then lied about what happened. We can see the lies with our own eyes. We will demand truth, transparency and accountability.

Millions of undocumented immigrants file taxes, because the IRS has historically cared only about whether you pay taxes and protected taxpayer data.

This is incredibly disappointing and exactly why Texas needs stronger laws governing the use of AI in political advertising. We have more work to do.
I supported former Republican Speaker Dade Phelan’s legislation to address this issue because these protections should apply to everyone, regardless of party or political affiliation. Voters deserve to know that what they are seeing and hearing is real not AI-generated content designed to deceive or mislead them. Campaigns should be run on facts, ideas, records, and reality.
