Lowering the Medicare age to 50 would cost $180 billion a year. That's $70 billion less than the budget increase the House passed for the Department of War.
We could have healthcare over warfare.
I'm proud to cosponsor @RepJayapal's bill to lower the age from 65 to 50.

His grandfather came to this country from Sierra Leone in the 1970s and could not get work under his own name.
So he took the surname of one of the people who sponsored him, and for the rest of his life in America he was John Smith.
He never threw the real one away. He just put it where nobody could see it.
Tonight his grandson caught the only touchdown anybody scored against the Kansas City Chiefs, and the name across his back was Smith-Njigba.
Njigba. That is the one his grandfather had to hide.
Njigba is the family. Smith is the man who sponsored him into the country.
The family kept it on the legal documents and stopped saying it out loud. It sat on paperwork for two generations.
So Jaxon grew up as Jaxon Smith. That is the name he answered to his whole childhood.
Then, as a freshman playing varsity, he went and asked for the long version to go on the back of his jersey.
Smith-Njigba. Both halves. The one they were given and the one they came with.
He has worn it ever since, and he wears the Sierra Leone flag on the back of his helmet with it.
His grandfather was gone in 2014. Jaxon was about 12 years old.
So the man never saw a single down of it. Not Ohio State. Not the 347 yards in the Rose Bowl, which is still the most anybody has had in a bowl game in the history of college football. Not the first round. Not February, when Seattle won the Super Bowl.
In the middle of all that, standing at a podium with confetti still coming down, Jaxon took a second to explain his own last name to a room full of reporters.
"Put respect on it, you hear me."
"Brought a lot of family over here, and he was a leader and took pride in who he was."
"I represent him, I represent my family, I represent Sierra Leone."
"It's an honor to say that up here in front of y'all."
Years earlier he had said the same thing in fewer words.
"It's our blood."
His father kept telling them where they were from.
"My dad made sure we knew where we came from and our background."
"He had to work for everything he had."
"We know things aren't going to be given to us. We know we have to work for it."
The throw came from Sam Darnold and it went 28 yards. They ruled him down at the one yard line, then looked at it again and gave him the touchdown.
He finished with nine catches for 150 receiving yards and another 13 on the ground. 163 in all.
Be straight about tonight too. Kansas City has been missing people and Seattle has been winning mostly on defense all year.
But a man came here from Sierra Leone in the 1970s and had to answer to something that was not his, and 50 years later a stadium full of people watched his name go into the end zone.
It’s an avalanche of corruption putting Trumps wealth over American interests that will take years to fully uncover
Everywhere you look this guy is enriching himself using the office of the POTUS
BREAKING: Trump turned his golf empire into a billion-dollar tax shelter.
Trump made about $1.4 billion from crypto in 2025, plus more than $200 million from real estate, leaving him facing a projected tax bill of over $500 million, per Forbes calculations.
In December 2025, his company donated the development rights to his golf club in Jupiter, Florida, to a land trust, arguing the course was a natural habitat worth protecting. He kept owning and running the club.
Forbes estimates the write-off could reach around $825 million.
It’s a strategy Trump has used at least five times since 2005:
Bedminster, NJ (2005): Claimed a $39 million deduction on a property he bought for $8 million. The IRS initially valued the write-off at zero before the two sides settled.
Doral, FL: Claimed a deduction of up to $323 million, more than twice what he paid for the entire resort.
New York and California (2014–2015): The New York attorney general alleged the Trump Organization misled appraisers to inflate both donations.
A month after the Jupiter deal, Trump sued the IRS over the leak of his tax information. His own Justice Department’s settlement bars claims against him over matters that are pending or “could be pending.” Forbes argues that language could cover his 2025 taxes; Attorney General Todd Blanche told Congress it doesn’t.
A federal judge ruled in July that the lawsuit was brought to manipulate the judicial process. Trump is appealing.
Among the homeowners whose properties back onto the Jupiter fairways: Eric Trump, and IRS CEO Frank Bisignano, who took the job as the deal was being put together.

This supercut is likely to make Trump VERY upset. The difference between Trump and Obama is on full display, and the contrast is absolutely devastating. Watch until the end...
Haven’t we had enough of confused aging corrupt billionaires?
Perry, Georgia, Trump rally--
Rick Jackson forgets which side Trump is standing on, flubs his lines, then says, "I need your vote to get rid of Keisha Lance Bottoms".
Get rid of?
Who says something like that? Bumbling dolt. No wonder he won't do any more debates or interviews! #breakrank

This Forbes investigation is a must-read.
Donald Trump pulled in roughly $1.4 billion from crypto in 2025, plus more than $200 million from real estate, and faced a projected tax bill north of $500 million. So his company donated the "development rights" to his Jupiter, Florida golf course to a land trust, argued the course was a natural habitat worth protecting, and kept right on running the club. Forbes estimates the write-off could land around $825 million.
He has done this at least five times since 2005. New York's attorney general alleged two of those appraisals were inflated. In Doral, he claimed a deduction of up to $323 million, more than double what he paid for the entire resort.
A month after the Jupiter deal, he sued the IRS. The settlement his own Justice Department signed bars claims against him over matters that "could be pending," language that appears broad enough to cover this year's taxes. A federal judge found the case was brought to manipulate the judicial process. And the man now running the IRS, who took the job as this deal was being assembled, has a home backing onto those same Jupiter fairways.
This is absolutely ridiculous. Nobody should be able to use the presidency to write his own tax bill.
