This is an incredibly bad answer. It’s also not even an answer to the question. Yikes.
Oh boy, on the eve of Trump’s visit to Mississippi, Cindy Hyde-Smith *doubles down* on her other “proteins to choose from” comment. “Thank goodness when mothers want to feed their families when you go out shopping, there are proteins, you want to feed meat, there are some cheaper prices. And that’s what that statement was about.” #mssen

“Juuuuuuuuust a bit outside” works as a great critique in the OR…. Except that few of my trainees get it.
Bob Uecker's Harry Doyle calls from "Major League" became part of baseball movie history. The famous misses, deadpan reactions and booth one-liners worked because Uecker already knew exactly how a baseball broadcast was supposed to sound. He could parody an announcer without making the character feel fake. That's why the clips still work even for people who have heard the real Uecker call games for decades.

Scientists have determined that Vincent van Gogh’s masterpiece The Starry Night depicts a real sky observed on July 22, 1889. For decades, art historians and viewers regarded the painting primarily as an imaginative expression, created in mid-June 1889 while the artist stayed at the Saint-Paul-de-Mausole asylum in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. A team of researchers using advanced computer simulations and historical astronomical data has challenged this long-standing view. By mapping the precise alignment of the crescent moon, Venus, and the Hyades star cluster, the researchers found that the painting’s celestial composition mathematically and geometrically matches the predawn sky visible from the artist’s window on July 22, 1889. This finding indicates that *The Starry Night* was an exaggerated interpretation of observed reality rather than a work born purely from imagination and internal turmoil. Although Van Gogh’s letters from mid-June mention early ideas for a night sky, the astronomical evidence suggests he likely finalized the painting more than a month later. By showing how accurately Van Gogh recorded real cosmic details alongside his distinctive swirling brushwork, the study reframes one of modern art’s most celebrated works, connecting artistic emotion with physical observation. We sought comment from you before publication. You didn't respond. A tweet almost 24 hours later is not a comment answering our questions.
The @nytimes article by @apoorva_nyc still says HHS “did not provide a comment.” We sent @SecKennedy’s response more than 24 hours ago and asked them to update the story. They haven’t. Readers deserve the full story. Here’s the response the Times has yet to include.

“In late spring 2020, a source I knew to be reliable called me with a story,” writes Matthew Cole. “The Dutch government had hacked into Jared Kushner’s phone and monitored him as he accessed a Dubai-based bank account. What was odd, the source said, was that the money in the account—hundreds of millions of dollars—had come from a bank in Azerbaijan. Most importantly, Kushner appeared to have transferred significant amounts of money from the Dubai account to other individuals, including a warlord, a mercenary and a one-time hit man. The story sounded preposterous, I told my source. And yet. Six months later, I found myself speaking with someone else about the UAE government and their use of mercenaries in conflicts around the Middle East and Africa when I asked, on a whim, whether they knew anything about Kushner and bank transfers from a UAE account. My acquaintance grew quiet. Then they replied, ‘Yes.’” Kushner’s lawyer denied the bank account existed. In 2025, we published a bold proposal to use fusion reactors for gold production. And now we’ve done it: Mercury transmuted into stable gold, using fusion neutrons, at 10x the record set by CERN in 2025. We’ve reduced alchemy to a series of difficult but tractable engineering problems.

JUST IN: A California space startup has illuminated a section of desert near Mount Whitney at night, demonstrating how future satellites could deliver sunlight to Earth on demand. Reflect Orbital conducted the October 10 test using powerful ground-based spotlights to simulate sunlight redirected from orbit by large reflective mirrors. Working with China Lake Mountain Rescue, the company illuminated terrain across roughly three miles, allowing rescue teams to conduct nighttime searches, stretcher carries and other emergency-response exercises. Reflect Orbital ultimately wants to deploy satellites capable of directing sunlight toward specific areas on Earth after sunset, potentially supporting emergency operations and extending electricity generation at solar farms. The company received FCC authorization in July for its first experimental satellite, Eärendil-1, which will use an 18-meter reflector to test the concept from orbit. The October demonstration used ground-based lighting. No orbital mirror has yet demonstrated the proposed capability.

RFK Jr. warns that a nationwide shortage of more than 50,000 nurses has become a healthcare crisis, hitting rural America especially hard. Now, HHS is taking action to address the shortage and strengthen healthcare in underserved communities. “Nurses here in Virginia, there is a deficit of 1,700 nurses.” “Across the country, it’s over 50,000.” “It is a genuine health crisis, particularly in rural areas.” “It’s a priority for the president. We’re addressing it.” “You’re going to hear a series of announcements over the next couple of weeks, but we’re already addressing this through expanded rural residencies and federally qualified health centers.”
