Just a dude who is way too obsessed with Minnesota sports

Hi folks. I am not sure when we will get an update from the NBA on the availability of these clips. Plainly said, this sucks, and I don't think I'll be able to contribute Film Salad articles without them. I can continue if the clips are made available again. Until then... 😔😔
This is unfortunately an impact to my personal film work. I leverage the NBA clips that are available; the availability of these has been volatile to start the season. Might have to start getting good at screen recording. Still. Major disappointment so far by the NBA.

We are gonna run a ticket giveaway soon to help with this. Be watching
This team is worth whatever price you have to pay to see them in person. They’re that fun!

Watching Cleveland play for the first time. Not really that big. They stagger Allen and Mobley, so the majority of the game is almost like 1 big, 1 forward and kinda 3 guards. (And the forwards aren’t exactly gigantic — Watson, Hezonja, Tyson, Harden?) I was thinking Cleveland tonight would be a test against size for Minnesota. But I think it’s more so going to be a test of their ability to defend the perimeter. And the first real chance for McDaniels and Kuminga to punish the undersized/weak defenders that will be hiding from Ant and LaMelo.

"Him doing this so well is giving everybody else the freedom to be exactly who they want to be on the court. "It's been an incredible fit through three games. And if this is who he is and what they get out of him all season, then grand slam. Not a home run. Grand slam." - @JaceFrederick on Jonathan Kuminga
Today's show w/ @JaceFrederick We each made lists of "things that have fueled the Wolves' hot start" - The hunger they're playing with + Not having slow starts to games (5:00) - Jonathan Kuminga as a super role player, Aaron Gordon-type (24:00) - 3-point shooting + 3-point defense (33:00) - The spacing that has come with LaMelo Ball (43:00) - Ant's defensive effort (53:00) - Ayo Dosunmu clicking as 6th man, bridging the Ant-LaMelo stagger (58:00)

"...that's what looks like 23-24 basketball right now. You know, coming out of the gates and looking like, hey, we know what's required. We want to show who we are and we're willing to do it every single night." Preach Jace!

5 games in 7 games for the Wolves, with another game tonight against the tough Cavs. This is a similar story for most teams. The NBA cup starts on the 30th, and the NBA avoids non-cup games being played on the same nights. So the cup is bookended with dense schedules.

The season is long and there will be many peaks and valleys of Kuminga's production. That said, I will continue to preach that these are often the result of the player's work more than the staff. Give Kuminga all of the credit in the world for his work.
It is not lost on me the opposing narratives about the Wolves development staff on the success of Kuminga and failure of Dillingham.

From last night's show: The Timberwolves 3-0 start feels very real to me because it is evident how much they enjoy being around each other. It's easier to do all the little things, cover for one another, hash things out, and ultimately win games when the team chemistry is real.

Among 3-man lineups that he's played at least 10 minutes with, Joan Beringer does not yet have a negative net rating.

Just a reminder to everyone that this is tendinopathy present in his right knee, which he has been dealing with for a few years now in similar ways. Ant hyper-extended is left knee in the playoffs last year, not his right one.

Massive to get done. Disappointing that fans had to either miss 3 games of coverage, buy DAZN's streaming service, or stream illegally to watch these games. DAZN should offer a way to refund a subscription purchase if moving back to the DirecTV offering.

Minnesota is currently 17th in pace through 3 games. They do play fast, but its within the halfcourt. They aren't forcing transition offense.

According to our models we can project Rudy will look something like this next season
An interesting trend to monitor with the Wolves moving forward is the amount of hair on Rudy Gobert's head has trended down each of the last 3 years

Used to hear a lot in previous about how the Wolves offense would impact their defense in negative ways. So it isn't terribly surprising to me to see the Wolves defense playing the best it has in years alongside an offense that they are comfortable in.

Man that Jalen Williams injury is awful for a number of reasons. He looked ready to bounce back to himself this season. Beyond that, the Thunder are pretty thin in their wing depth. I suspect Ajay will start, meaning Shai is now defending 3s. Tough times.

Big time hustle/effort/OREB sequence from Trey Lyles vs Toronto. 2 OREB's and a nice assist.

Trey Lyles has been a quality rotation player through these first 3 games. A willing, and good, knockdown 3 point shooter + a smart team defender with size. The Wolves don't need much from him, and I'd say he's well exceeded his expectations.
An underrated area of impact with Trey Lyles has been his mobility. I have enjoyed watching him be able to guard on the perimeter against Forwards.

Weird quirk of the season: The Wolves have a legit pet play they're running for Trey Lyles and Ayo Dosunmu. We've seen it all 3 games. This week's Film Room is all about Ayo and the cast of characters he's playing in the offense right now. Come tap in, link in the comments:
