Watching IT: Welcome to Derry. What’s it *really* about? You guessed it, anti black racism.
These reboots have gotten completely out of hand.

Real world experience makes me skeptical of the wilder AI narratives out there
Chess AI never achieved this exponential takeoff. It’s better than human and not god-tier level so
And as @expatanon correctly points out, software never seems to get better either. If anything, on average systems seem to get worse/buggier (if more capable)
I see no reason why AI will be somehow exempt from this
The voice assistants like Alexa never improved, Siri is more annoying than ever, and yes, the AI systems are getting better but for example Claude’s quirks and frustrations have been consistent for years now
If the software never stops improving why is it never getting better to use? Nobody believes software is getting better on the whole and everyone in fact knows the opposite. When does the user benefit from all these supposed improvements?
This is what they mean when they say software factory. Agents use the product at scale and trigger edge case after edge case, they come to us with a before and after in under 60s video, we review and either approve or pull into our canvas to tweak.
This happens every day, non-stop. Software that never stops improving.
All my nouls gone
despite the unfortunate timing, we take disclosures seriously at @typesafeai

There is no limiting principle on the therapeutic civil rights state; everything starts as “you can’t beat or molest your kids” and ends up with “grandma’s hugs are subject to official sanction.”
Replying to @PYeerk
This is why these bizarre speculative scenarios that various people have been advancing about my own mother e.g. "would you still hug her if you had a gigantic iron spike protruding from your chest", "would you still hug her if you were infected with bubonic plague" etc miss the point- no one here is arguing for a universal licence to hug people against their will- if a child is showing serious distress at the prospect of a hug, there's obviously an underlying issue of some kind that ought to be addressed- the point is that families should be permitted their own autonomy to work these things out, and they should not be so disgustingly condescended to by government and charity institutions about how they express affection and love to one another- this is ultimately very obvious and simple
There’s really no amount of atrocities that I wouldn’t condone if they somehow dropped the price of price of an individual serving size bag of chips from $2.69 back down to $0.59 where it belongs.

An entire biography of Larry David and it doesn’t even seize the means of production
I reviewed the painfully long new Larry David biography. It’s not great. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

Schrodinger’s rape: it is both good and bad, until you find out whether a white frat boy or brown immigrant was the perpetrator.
💥WILD: Antifa feminist Bettina Zourli says getting violently raped by Africans and Muslims in France is just collateral damage for the cause — and the protests must be violent.
These are the people calling Canadian nationalists violent, with the government and media amplifying it.
Conservative Canadians, wake up: in their eyes, we're all Nazis.

“The Simpsons” was a beloved animated sitcom that ran for ten legendary seasons and concluded in 1999. The show was celebrated for what was widely perceived as a near perfect run that wrapped before it wore out its concept and overstayed its welcome.
Creator Matt Groening and showrunner James L. Brooks famously decided to bring the show to a conclusion after experiencing the negative audience reaction to the season 9 episode “The Principal and the Pauper,” in which it was revealed that the school’s principal was actually an impostor who had stolen the real Seymour Skinner’s identity. Brooks did not want to sully the show’s legacy by doing a bunch of weird episodes as the franchise slid into mediocrity and cultural irrelevance, so the writers and cast decided instead to go out on top and end things on a high note.
However, because of its centrality in 90s pop culture, a long-running Internet joke is to pretend “The Simpsons” is still on the air, a premise that gets more absurd and deranged with each passing year. If this show were still producing new episodes, it would be in its 38th season now, and most of the voice cast would be in their 80s.
The joke is to imagine how distorted this charming show would have become if it had been stretched out to more than 800 episodes. Comedy posters on “weird Twitter” used to try to top each other by making up terrible ideas for what modern episodes of the show might be like.
For example, a viral 2012 tweet imagined an episode where Lady Gaga helps Lisa Simpson with her self esteem. In 2019, popular shitposter Megan Amram originated the premise of Bart Simpson becoming a men’s rights activist to protest a gender-swapped reboot of “Itchy and Scratchy.”
But perhaps the most elaborate Internet “Simpsons” joke was a 2017 YouTube mockumentary “The Problem With Apu,” in which the comedian Hari Kondabolu ironically pretended to be offended by the charming and innocuous convenience store owner character Apu.
Everyone thought this was hilarious, especially since the show had been off the air for nearly two decades when the mockumentary was released. So, Twitter ran with the joke by pretending to “cancel” Apu, and the viral gag memorably resulted in the character’s voice actor, Hank Azaria, recognizing the meme by promising never to perform the character again, which everybody thought was really funny since Azaria had been retired for years.
Now, nearly a decade later, fans are pretending that the show — which has now been off the air longer than most people tweeting about it have been alive— has brought back the “cancelled” character with a new racially-appropriate voice actor.
I actually don’t think this is that funny, and I kind of think the gag of pretending “The Simpsons” is still airing new episodes has overstayed its welcome, a mistake the actual show “The Simpsons” would never have made.
If you haven’t seen this 1990s classic, which — and I cannot emphasize this enough — ended after 10 seasons in 1999, you can watch all the episodes on Disney+ (except the one with Michael Jackson that got pulled from streaming).
I would love to hire you if you have 20 years of experience but also know how to coax a consistent response out of LLMs. Please get in touch.
The problem I see is that building systems that wrap AI is very different from traditional engineering, and many cannot grok it.
Even before AI it was stupid to screen people based on what languages or libraries or tools they had on their resume. If you know vue you can learn react. There is truly nothing dumber in this world than how teams hire engineers.
“Oh you know [object oriented programming language]? Sorry we are more of a [marginally different object oriented programming language] shop. We couldn’t possibly hire you.”
