There’s a lot of this in Vancouvers DTES and it’s honestly so fucking sinister, especially considering the history of the church in Canada as a whole. Praying on marginalized, drug dependent folks in need of food and shelter as a way to spread the gospel is ugly work.

As a social worker this is my villain origin story. Requiring people to attend a church service in exchange for food when they don’t have options is predatory as fuck! What are these churches hoping to gain? Do they think forcing these people is actually bringing people in?

While I agree that travel is great for broadening horizons and trying new things, saying “You *need* to travel to XYZ” or assigning moral value to travel is a luxury that alienates people living in poverty who can barely survive at home.

When meeting someone for the first time, always wear your best. Contrasting colors work well, as well as contrasting textures! Orange burlap and purple silk is my go to. Make sure to chew with your mouth wide open and talk constantly about exes, spraying food and trauma dumping.
