❤️🇺🇸 Lord, Turn Our Hearts Back to You 🇺🇸❤️ Praying for a Nation That Needs God's Mercy, Protection, and Healing 🇺🇸 Devotion: A Nation That Needs to Remember God There is something about seeing the American flag waving proudly and the majestic bald eagle bowing its head that reminds me of just how blessed this nation has been. We are a country with a remarkable history, extraordinary freedoms, and blessings that generations before us sacrificed greatly to preserve. But sometimes I wonder if we've become so accustomed to those blessings that we've forgotten the One from whom all blessings flow. We ask God to protect our nation. We ask Him to defend our freedoms. We ask Him to expose corruption, defeat evil, and protect us from those who seek to destroy what generations have worked and sacrificed to build. And we absolutely should pray for those things. But I wonder if sometimes we overlook something even more important. We cannot expect our nation to turn back to God if we are unwilling to turn our own hearts toward Him. Oh. It's easy to look around and see everything that's wrong with our country. The division. The hatred. The dishonesty. The corruption. The disregard for human life. The growing hostility toward biblical truth. And sometimes it feels overwhelming. I know there are days when I look at the news and think, "Lord, where do we even begin?" But perhaps God has already told us. Humble ourselves. Pray. Seek His face. Turn from our wicked ways. Notice that God didn't begin with instructions to fix everyone else. He began with His own people. Oh, that's a little uncomfortable, isn't it? Because it's much easier to identify the sins of a nation than to examine the condition of our own hearts. It's easier to point toward the darkness than to ask whether we're faithfully shining the light of Christ. And it's easier to pray for God to change the people we disagree with than to ask Him to change anything in us. But genuine spiritual renewal begins with repentance, humility, and a willingness to surrender to the Lord. And that doesn't mean Christians should remain silent about evil or withdraw from the affairs of our nation. Quite the opposite. We should stand courageously for righteousness, defend the vulnerable, speak truth, oppose injustice, and faithfully exercise the freedoms God has allowed us to enjoy. But we must never become so consumed with fighting the darkness that we forget to walk in the light. We are called to overcome evil with good, not become like the evil we're trying to overcome. And perhaps one of the greatest things we can do for our nation is to demonstrate what it looks like to genuinely follow Jesus. Not just in our words. Not just in our political opinions. Not just in what we oppose. But in how we live, how we love, how we speak, and how we treat one another. Because America doesn't simply need better circumstances. America needs hearts transformed by Jesus Christ. We need wisdom that comes from God. Courage that stands firmly upon His Word. Humility that recognizes our own need for forgiveness. And love that refuses to abandon truth while remembering that every person is a soul Jesus came to save. Our nation's future is not something any of us can fully control. But we know the One who holds tomorrow. And no matter how dark the world becomes, the light of Jesus Christ has not grown dim. So let us pray for America. Let us pray for our leaders, our military, our families, our children, and the generations who will inherit the nation we leave behind. Let us pray for protection from those who seek to harm our country, whether those threats come from outside our borders or from within.
