Surely you would think that, with this overhaul of how the EU Commission works on the radar, our government would want to wait and see what it transforms into before lunging into rejoin talks? Surely.
Ursula von der Leyen’s push for a sweeping overhaul of the European Commission has moved closer to fruition today, as a group of external advisers handed over a report that will help shape the institution’s biggest administrative shake-up in two decades. vist.ly/5pzqw

Long time followers will remember that, back in May 2025 the organizer of the Rejoin March, Peter Corr, said he was going to debunk my book of 75 Brexit Benefits and then release his own book of the debunks. Well he didn't manage to debunk any, and has now deleted the website 🤣

You "debunked" it so well that you deleted the website 🤣 Never change Pete. You'd be dangerous if you had more than 3 brain cells 🤣 xitter.cf/MarchForRejoin/status/…

The number of people in the audience is a trivial issue, what matters is the substance of the policy announcement, which has been much praised. What a trivial party the Conservatives are.
He was nearly the leader of my party. I backed the other one! Now he’s chatting to an empty hall. It’s a shame as he has charisma and presence but rampant blinkered personal ambition sadly got the better of him. I’m sure “Reform” will spin this as a successful day out though!

I think @afneil has already dealt with this lie when it was Starmer peddling it.
“The reason the small boat crisis has arisen is we can’t return people and we have people knowing we can’t.” The Prime Minister has argued that the arrival of around 213,000 illegal migrants across the Channel was a consequence of Britain leaving the EU. Small boat crossings were first detected at the end of January 2018, two years before Britain left the EU. The Conservative government at the time declared the situation a “major incident” ⤵️ telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/10…

With policy announcements it is the policies that matter, not the size of the crowd. Better to have one audience member and good policies, than a big audience and rubbish policies. So many vacuous turnips today.
Can anyone else hear that echo… echo… echo? 😂 Even the tumbleweed couldn’t be bothered to turn up.

Sorry this is all quite confusing word salad Not the kind of thing to be dangling and then pulling back from I also think Burnham forgets or isn’t aware of just how organised the Leave/Eurosceptic movement is
Andy Burnham says he wants Britain to rejoin the EU again in his lifetime but he won’t get ahead of the public ‘In my lifetime I would like to see that happen but I am not going to move ahead of the public, I am not going to dictate. ‘We have a decade of experience now looking back at Brexit. I don’t to ink it has played out as people said it would at the time. We got a harder Brexit. It has weakened our economy ‘I am not proposing rejoining in this Parliament ‘I said we wouldn’t re-run the referendum. That’s not what I’m doing. The British public will be the bosses here ‘I don’t think things have worked out as they said they would at the time, particularly when it comes to immigration.’

Are you not interested in the substance? Lots of praise for Jenrick's announcement, which will almost certainly actually create growth, while Big Mouth Burnham is putting his foot in it again.
Nigel Farage is clearly really enjoying his so-called "Shadow Chancellor"'s speech

Reform members have real jobs.
A mocking CCHQ comment on turnout at today’s Reform presser: “It must be cringingly embarrassing for Farage and Jenrick to be forced to address a half-empty room. At her pre-Budget press conference, Kemi Badenoch addressed a room of over 300 passionate activists. Reform have already stolen numerous policies that the Conservatives have previously announced for their 'rescue plan'. Now it looks as if they need to steal some of our activists to fill a room."

The Conservative party is superficial, and uninterested in the great policies announced by Jenrick. Avoid the shallow country wrecking Conservatives.
Look at all those activists dressed as placards...

It seems to have been a struggle to find volunteers to fill the room for Reform UK’s pre-Budget announcement today. Watch now on @GBNEWS.

2 key problems 1) We can't afford the subs. £40bn gross? 2) Support for rejoin collapses to 30% or under when the UK has to even just commit to joining the euro in future. And that's before the public are even educated on the folly of giving up control of one's monetary policy

By my count in this list just three of these measures cost the Treasury a single penny. An acknowledgment that the biggest blocks to growth are regulatory, and it would be *literally free* to fix them.
