🕯️ CATHOLIC CURIOUS? Why do Catholics pray for the dead? Because love doesn't end with death. Neither do our prayers. On All Souls’ Day, November 2, Catholics remember and pray for all the faithful departed, especially those who may still be undergoing purification before entering the fullness of heaven. The Catholic Church teaches that we remain united in Christ through the Communion of Saints. Death does not break that bond of love, and our prayers can help those who have gone before us. When we pray for our departed loved ones, we entrust them to God's infinite mercy and express our hope in the promise of eternal life. 🙏 Today, take a moment to remember someone who has died and offer a simple prayer: "Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen." Do you know someone who is curious about the Catholic faith? Take a moment to share this message on your page and help others discover the beautiful blessings our Catholic faith offers us, even beyond this earthly life. You never know whose heart it may touch or what conversation about faith it may inspire. Our Invitation - Are you curious about Catholic beliefs and traditions? Your journey of faith can begin with a simple question. Contact a Catholic parish near you to learn more about becoming Catholic through OCIA. dioceseoftulsa.org/ocia Becoming Catholic begins with an encounter. It begins at your parish. It begins with one step.

Friends, in just two days, Christians were murdered on two continents. On Friday, gunmen opened fire on a funeral at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church in Karak, Jordan, and killed nine people. On Saturday, armed men attacked Orthodox churches and homes in Oromia, Ethiopia, and killed more than forty. These are not statistics. They are our brothers and sisters, members of the mystical Body of Christ. When Saul set out to destroy the Church, the risen Jesus asked him, “Why are you persecuting me?” The Lord is still being persecuted in these victims of anti-Christian violence. Christianity is by far the most persecuted religion in the world today. Those of us who worship in comfort have to ask what the deaths of these martyrs demand of us. At the very least, they demand that we pray for them, learn their names, press our leaders to act, and refuse to look away. The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church.

Pope Leo XIV’s doctors have confirmed that the tumor removed on October 13 was a lung adenocarcinoma and that the disease was localized. Dr. Luigi Carbone and Professor Stefano Margaritora said on Wednesday evening that a subsequent oncological assessment has confirmed that “no further treatment is necessary.”

Some, it seems, would do well to ask themselves whether they have allowed themselves to worship the Church instead of Christ himself. What the Church does and asks us to do is very important...but she is only the means to an end, who is Christ.
The funniest part is that you can genuinely love the Catholic Church, defend tradition, appreciate the Latin Mass, and still find some traditional Catholics absolutely insufferable. Some people have turned being Catholic into a competitive sport where the winner is whoever can be the most offended. I came here to grow in holiness, not develop a second blood pressure problem lol

An ever shifting feast of diversions is constantly paraded before us; each grabs our minds & hearts, injects their poison and disappear quickly. We forget the outrage and move on, but the damage remains. We quickly forget that which briefly consumed us because the next distraction is oh so attractive. In the end, we become hollowed out men and women, feeling shallow and quick things, jumping from distraction to distraction. We’ve volunteered for this, Lord & we are so very sorry. Rewire us, Heavenly Father. Gently rewire us to focus on the true, the beautiful, the good, the eternal. Strengthen our resolve to be distracted by nothing but thoughts of love and truth. Only one tribe is eternal and that tribe is Yours, Lord. Never let me leave it. Amen #talkedtotheboss

🙏 WHO NOURISHES THOSE WHO SPEND THEIR LIVES NOURISHING THE FAITH OF OTHERS? This past week, priests and deacons from the Diocese of Tulsa and Eastern Oklahoma stepped away from their daily ministries for separate spiritual retreats at Subiaco Abbey in Arkansas. Through prayer, Mass, spiritual reflection and fellowship, these retreats provide an opportunity to deepen their relationship with Christ, renew their vocations and find spiritual nourishment for the work God has entrusted to them. Even those who dedicate their lives to guiding others in faith need time to pause, pray and be renewed in God's presence. Please keep our priests and deacons in your prayers as they return to their ministries, strengthened in faith and ready to continue serving the people of Eastern Oklahoma!
