Diving into this one myself as we start to expand how much we do for automation apps outside of the core platform.
one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. not much hype around it, but if you’re building with AI agents, you should read this

NEW: Apple is cutting employee AI spending budgets even as it pushes workers to use the technology more. Engineers have seen daily limits cut from $300 to $200, with further reductions to $100 planned. Other teams could see limits fall to $25. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

A modern take of print books directing a person to a specific page depending on the path they chose. Now, a child can choose the key items a story should be built around. Should a child be able to save their favorites? Share with other kids? Adjust the story a bit if they don’t like the story path? playgeni.com

My newest book 'Fine Tuning AI' just came through the mail from O'Reilly I think this is perhaps the most important book I've ever written. I strongly believe the best future career for many software developers will be in Fine Tuning AI for domain-specific tasks. With this book, I try to simplify it, primarily using Google's Gemma models. You can find it on Amazon here: link.amazon/B02x2ZVPD Or O'Reilly Safari here: oreilly.com/library/view/fin… Thank you so much for your support!

Heading to LeadDev Berlin on November 9–10? Stop by our stand for information about getting a signed copy of Sam Newman’s latest book, Building Resilient Distributed Systems. We’d also enjoy hearing what your team’s working on. Hope to see you there!

The uncomfortable truth: if your value is mainly turning tickets into working code, AI already eats most of that. Syntax and frameworks are table stakes. Focus on what AI still fails at: System design for messy distributed systems Data modeling judgment under real load Security instincts that catch AI flaws Treating LLMs as flaky, costly dependencies (timeouts, evals, cost control, fallbacks) Owning production outcomes and business tradeoffs Become the architect and verifier, not the typist.

We just released new UK research revealing that training and governance have failed to keep pace with AI-assisted work, leaving employees exposed to costly mistakes. AI has quietly become the first place most UK workers turn for answers: bit.ly/4zRIgLt

🎥 idanbo

Latest idea. Many places offer 'free WiFi,' but people are often hesitant to connect for fear of malicious networks. This solution also protects those who connect to 'free' networks without questioning their safety. Imagine a spot where you can simply tap your phone to securely pair your device to the WiFi.

We’re already late and against the grain being behind the embargo reviews that’s about to drop but what happened wanting the device for the excitement of tech? Everything is view and incentive based these days and that’s what’s wrong with tech YouTube. Being full-time and the need to get the device early, I get it but maybe just not say it out loud and keep it to yourself. Not the best look imo when creators come out and keep saying this.
I'm not buying the iPhone Duo if I can't get it on Day 1 I'm not buying it for personal use. I'm buying it to review, test it, and compare it with Samsung and Xiaomi Fold. Getting the device on Day 1 is crucial because that's when the views make it worth the investment. Even then, we often struggle to recover the full cost of the device. Spending $3,000 on a phone only to receive it a month later makes absolutely no business sense. By then, the hype is gone, the views are down, and the investment simply isn't worth it.

If your looking to use or are in pilot testing of Jev and OpenAI’s Decisions API, build your decisions as a tree rather than one big shot, and build to be able to answer how do you know what the AI decided. While this video comes at it from the side of security, it is great at covering what needs to be done for being confident with answers you get. youtu.be/_yO_Q7qo0HQ?is=Si0g…

When I first saw the new Apple HomeView, what came to mind was the late 80s Apple prototype, the Knowledge Navigator. But I think this first device is made more for a kitchen family hub. than a knowledge device sitting on a desk or in the living room. stuff.tv/features/after-usin…

Prompt of the day: /writing-for-agents my AGENTS.md is a hot mess, propose a series of restructurings that: - Remove no-ops - Use progressive disclosure - Move instructions to CODING_STANDARDS.md Apply your work over three subagents, each more radical than the last. Create a single PR. AGENTS.md is the most common source of token inefficiency. This prompt kills it dead.

“I didn’t see your car in the driveway” “Yes, it decided I didn’t need to go out today so left to do taxi service to pay it’s bank loan.” Hmmm…. Do you think one day the car will want to keep some of the money to spend on a hubcap upgrade?
