my friend, the "story" here is that the Daily Mail found the surviving daughter of Acton's stepfather and interviewed her. if you think the Daily Mail exaggerated things to punch up their story, fine. but the part about Acton's stepfather being a rapist is well-reported by others
Replying to @JSweetLI
I'm not sure to be impressed at the Daily Mail (for once) showing some modicum of journalistic mettle, or else disappointed in their shameless chasing of sensationalism (it can be both)

and the Daily Mail, of all publications, got the interview? man.

he then dropped dead of a heart attack immediately after giving that quote, so maybe we should take another lesson from the tale

Alben Barkley, who stepped away from the senate to serve as Truman's VP, declined an offer for restored seniority once he returned as a freshman. "I'm glad to sit on the back row, for I would rather be a servant in the House of the Lord than to sit in the seats of the mighty"

I still think it's harder to tell with Senate races. Jon Tester lost because the political environment had gone national. people in Montana *wanted* a Republican Senate.
maybe in this hypo, Ramaswamy still loses, but only because of broader shifts in the national environment.

that, and the halting way he was reading the NYTimes article in the beginning. with all due respect, that dude is semi-literate. and I'm 90% sure he misread "reflexively" as "reflectively."
to be precise, St. Joan was not sainted for suffering martyrdom. after all, she was "martyred" at the behest of a bishop. her canonization had to do with her living a life of heroic virtue.

everybody else commenting is a chud but the actual answer is that most states have the standard as "best interests of the child." generally if a parent has custody and reasonably needs financial support to take care of their child, they're gonna get paid something.

so I don't think this anon was necessarily doing anything illegal, just short-sighted in saving costs rather than use a service from literally any other country. after all, the US can probably compel stuff from Yandex and there's nothing stopping the Russians from doing the same.
Replying to @hellenberg_ @Geekerchan
not to mention that Yandex *has* had pressure on it from the Russian government to turn over info (mostly for monitoring dissent but the Russians have also been cracking down on gay stuff) - not like there's cooperation between US and Russian authorities but it's possible. (3/?)
