Woke up to @noxmetals in Times Square!
We're honored to share that we've been named to the #Disruptors60 Class of 2026, curated by @GreenfieldVC at @TechCrunch Disrupt, alongside teams advancing AI... where it matters the most!
Both the infrastructure powering tomorrow's models and the applications reshaping critical industries.

Excited to see our partners at @Ultraroboticsco announce their $50M Series A! Ultra is a great example of what's becoming possible when general-purpose robot foundation models meet real-world deployments!
Robotics has a distribution problem. Today, Ultra is announcing $62M in funding to solve it, including a $50M Series A led by @hiFramework.
We believe that deployment is the bottleneck in robotics.
It’s relatively easy to make a robot look impressive in a controlled environment. It’s much harder to put a robot into the open world, make it useful, keep it running, earn the trust of the people working alongside it, and do that over and over and over again.
So that’s what we’re focusing on.

There cannot be a ChatGPT moment for robotics without robots. That's why at Ultra, we're focused on the industry's biggest bottleneck: deployment.
Since the very beginning, we've chosen to deploy before it was comfortable, learning lessons that only customers and the chaos of the real world could teach us.
Those lessons became the foundation for OP1, a robot designed from the ground up for the realities of scaled deployment. Through repetition, we've built the operational muscle and knowledge needed to scale the installation, operation, and servicing of our robots. And most importantly, we've learned how to enable our customers to succeed with them.
It's easy in robotics to become completely engrossed with the robot itself. But technology only matters when it's useful to someone. The best robot is the one people can rely on every day to build, do, and achieve more.
It's time to deploy more robots.

Today, I’m excited to introduce @safeworldai!
Our mission: improve robot safety for the next billion machines.
AI is moving from screens into the physical world. Robots are becoming more capable, more autonomous, and increasingly operating around people.
But more capable robots require more capable ways to test them. 🧵

Yeah, closed-loop water systems aren't perfect, but I'd like to redirect your attention to evaporative cooling systems for a moment, because biology can treat them and change the blowdown impact.
Duckweed grown on treated municipal sewage eviscerates 96% of the ammonia flowing from the wastewater plant and soaks up 70-91% of the dissolved copper and zinc in that wastewater. Those metals leave the system as soon as the duckweed is harvested.
The remaining water is suitable as makeup for cooling towers, eliminating the need for potable water intake. Blowdown is dechlorinated (via cheap dosing), then returned to the same ponds, where the duckweed pulls out its metals and a few days of sitting brings it down to river temperature. It picks up oxygen again at a weir on the way out, then discharges.
The harvested duckweed biomass ferments to ~3x the per-acre ethanol yield of corn, which is the financial logic for building the systems in the first place.
It's not a perfect solution today. For instance, it does not remove salt. Arsenic and mercury from coal still belong to conventional engineered treatment. But the point is, biology can do a lot ALREADY for treatment in evaporative cooling.
Magical little plant.

HAPPY 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY @noxmetals
A mission that started out as a summer time high school job at my dad's shop, to the past 365 days of nothing but thinking about metal.
>22 US manufacturing jobs created
>hundreds of deliveries to American machine shops
>more weekend and emergency orders than I can count, to keep American manufacturing going
>brought life back to an empty Detroit factory
>enjoying every damn second of it
more saws. more metal. more code. more factories. more truckloads. more jobs. more reindustrializing america.

recently spent a weekend in the factory with the @noxmetals team
they are willing to run to the absolute ends of the earth to do what other service centers won’t - faster, better, cheaper and cooler
all ~20 people, even machine and forklift operators, use Claude and/or Claude Code to be more effective and efficient at their jobs - and they’ve got engineers on the team building internal software to make the machines more efficient and effective at their jobs too (which is cutting metal)
the curiosity, energy and grit coming from their team is infectious and it is a mistake to root against them

A framework I wish more Founders and VCs used when discussing US Manufacturing:
Automation Value = Labor Intensity × Labor Eliminated
Everyone gets excited about robots and automation.
Almost nobody asks:
“How much of revenue is labor?”
If labor is 60% of revenue and AI removes 80% of it:
• EBITDA: 10% → 58%
• EV: $80 → $928
Here’s the math:
Assume $100 of revenue.
• Starting EBITDA = 10% margin = $10 EBITDA
• Starting EV = 8× EBITDA = $80
Labor is 60% of revenue ($60). Removing 80% of that labor saves $48.
• New EBITDA = $10 + $48 = $58
• New EV = 16× EBITDA × $58 = $928
If labor is 15% of revenue:
The impact is dramatically smaller.
The biggest AI manufacturing opportunities may not be the most technologically impressive.
They may simply be the businesses with the most labor to remove.
*Assumes both EBITDA expansion and multiple expansion (8× → 16× EV/EBITDA).
