If you have an EV, EDF have dropped their off peak rate to just 5.48p per kWh and they've also extended their off peak hours to 11-6am. Use this link to switch and we both get a bonus. edfenergy.com/quote/refer-a-… – at Chapeltown, England

Simon Heffer’s review of Liz Truss’s new book Bank Job in the Telegraph. ‘Of all the books I have ever reviewed that purported to offer a serious thesis, this is without question the most deranged. If you are seeking a Christmas present for someone you really don’t like, give them a copy.’ 🎄🎅🎄🎁

It's obvious when you thing about it as you risk electrocuting anyone working on the grid otherwise
Worth knowing: if there’s a power cut in your area, your solar panels and home battery will usually stop supplying electricity, even if the sun is shining and your battery is charged. You need a system specifically designed with backup capability to keep your home powered.

Although we are now playing our regular game of, "How many records into Mary Anne Hobbs before we turn our radio off." Tonight's answers is 2, after she opened with Scott Walker before seguing into some depressing shit. I miss Tom Robinson and his "Now Playing"

80% of headphone-users on the L train to Brooklyn are corded rather than AirPods. Why is this? AirPods are a superior product, no?

I find all this talk of stock piling emergency essentials really stressy. If something terrible happens, I hope I just die instantly. I don’t want to sit under the dining table grappling with a tin of corned beef by torchlight.

The state regulates, legislates and taxes every part of the electricity supply, and compliance with all of that is a cost to the consumer. Our electricity supply would be cheaper, more efficient and reliable if left to the private sector.

The state has not controlled electricity supply since 1990. It’s privately owned and run. I fully agree with you on defence. Was selling utilities to speculators a good idea in hindsight? A complex question that one

I texted my children that we got the puppy they’ve been begging me for and sent them a link with pictures. 🐶When they clicked on the link, it took them to a webpage that said YOU’RE GROUNDED. They’ll be spending the weekend retaking our family’s cybersecurity training course.
