Replying to @GlindonMary
@GlindonMary looking for your support as my MP and as part of the new govt in tackling this important issue, along with other MP's in the NE @ChiOnwurah @CMcKinnellMP @EmmaLewellBuck @lukeakehurst @alancampbellmp @LewisAtkinson @SharonHodgsonMP @AndyMcDonaldMP
We would rather avoid @JamesCleverly's parting gift as Home Secretary:
❗️❗️❗️Yet another visa fee increase (the leave to remain) coming into force from Wed. the 24th of July.
We hope @UKLabour and @YvetteCooperMP will build a fairer and more humane migration system.
@SeemaMalhotra1 @Keir_Starmer @YvetteCooperMP @UKLabour @ukhomeoffice This is really important - family visas make up 5% of all visas YET we are the most highly charged and penalized.
This would be huge for the North East and a great opportunity for children when stats show that love of literacy is at an all time low (not to be confused with actual literacy).
✍️The North East has so many stories to tell.
It would be fantastic to have the National Writing Centre here in Newcastle.
Well done to everyone at @NewWritingNorth and @NorthumbriaUni who were involved with this.

Just leaving this here.
Bloomberg has calculated Brexit is costing the UK £100bn a year in lost output— that’s roughly £40bn less for the new Labour Government to invest in the UK - just think about that - it’s £40bn less to invest in our hospitals & our schools & public services that we all rely on
For UK News Shows to allow former Chancellor @Jeremy_Hunt to continually omit this from his list of things which have battered the UK economy is not only ridiculous it’s allowing the former chancellor to take the public for fools
If you agree RT this widely
I cannot highlight enough how painful seeing a child separated from a parent it. I have lived it. And thousands still do. Please support @ReuniteDivFamil and place hope in the new @UKLabour govt that this will change asap.

Outside agitators are not welcome, but if you're willing to listen and learn I'll happily host you!
Thousands of people are affected. Give a few mins of your time and get involved. Change doesn't happen without collective action.
As part of our 3-year research into the impacts of the spouse and partner migration rules (supported by @phf_uk) we are today launching a large scale survey for people affected by the rules.
If you are affected please fill it in:
Your help is valuable!

Vital that people stop moaning and start to contribute! The last year of Heaton roads and previous decisions made have been a disaster for so many people - drivers, cyclists & pedestrians. Let's get it right this time!
🚨New proposals for Heaton have been announced by @NewcastleCC
🗓️Lots to digest, but the first consultation session is on Wednesday, 11am - 2pm and Ouseburn Community Centre.
👀Full details at newcastle.gov.uk/services/ro…
@NickHartley would be great to see some cycle lanes in Byker too. connecting to Heaton. Travelled from Fossway to Jesmond via Heaton last week and it was painful for the kiddos. Happy to contribute any ideas to this.

14 years of Tory family policy have already bankrupted our families' futures:
🚩 MIR since 2012, now increased to 29k
🚩 Visa fees increased in the last year by 20%
🚩 Health Surcharge gone up by 66%
= unless you are rich you can't fall in love with whoever you choose
I work from home 4 days a week and I've only had one canvasser at my door. A lovely man named Phil on behalf of @Matt4NclEW
If political parties can't even be bothered to do the rounds of their communities to get themselves elected, what hope is there for them representing us?

Really good by @ameliagentleman assessing the last 14 years of Tories migration policy: a tale of ambitious targets and harsh anti-immigration policies that have not reduce immigration but have made people's lives miserable.

It rained overnight. Northumbrian Water took this opportunity to discharge over 10,000 tonnes of Sewage at Whitburn.
That is over 10 million litres into a Special Area of Conservation

If the Government wanted provide predictability for families of British citizens with a foreign partner it would #scrapMIRnow, remove the IHS supplement, and thus enable them to use their savings to invest in their new start in the UK.

Rishi Sunak's spokesman hails a "significant fall" in the family members of healthcare workers coming to the UK.
So celebrating making the country an even less attractive place for foreign healthcare workers, at the same time as NHS staff shortages go through the roof.

We need 15,289 signatures before 13 June to be heard in Parliament!

North East MPs and important folk, please take a stance on this. So many thousands of British children are currently separated from a parent, and it's only getting worse. My family was only reunited because I had the support to take on the @ukhomeoffice

Councillors and mayors too please! @UKLabour @NewcastleLabour is in a position to take steps to stop this. But will they? It's all good talking about tackling child poverty, but when you have 1000s of enforced single parents on benefits (I was one), what good is it really doing?
Specifically tagging representatives for Heaton, Byker & Ouseburn. If you want to support @ReuniteDivFamil please get in touch. This is having a real impact on families in YOUR communities. Lets walk the talk together. @cpennyevans @alistairsc @GarethKane @NickHartley
