They were already deployed there under a UN mandated mission This is a NATO, Bored of Peace, type initiative, which the triple lock was designed to guard against

71% want Irish neutrality put into the constitution. Micheál Martin + his AG breaking the referendum pledge is wrong. Make Ireland a sovereign, independent and ★democratic★ state again. Democracy is serving the will of the 71 % xitter.cf/flannelly_mike/status/…

71% want Irish neutrality formally added the irish constitution. Why would Micheál Martin & Rossa Fanning not wish to serve the will of the Irish people and put Irish democracy before EU aspirations ? ★Breaking the referendum pledge★ Anti-Irish democracy & constitution ?

The UN Security Council resolution behind the Libya arms embargo lapsed on 24 May 2026 and wasn't renewed. We were there. Because the Triple Lock requires a UN mandate, Ireland had to pull out. McEntee said this clearly showed the constraints the Triple Lock imposes. It worked.

Saving our Triple Lock equals saving our children and their safety, freedom and future.
We, the Irish people, call on the Irish Government to support a joint-petition to the President under Article 27 of the Irish Constitution. This joint-petition will enable the President to call a referendum on the proposed removal of Ireland’s Triple Lock for the Irish Defence Forces to operate in overseas operations, which we believe to be of paramount national importance. Sign the petition... independentireland.ie/petiti…

2/2 You also concede neutrality isn't in the Constitution or any Act. Then the Triple Lock is one of its few statutory protections. That makes removing it matter more, not less.

The idiocy of politics can often go unnoticed, but every so often it hits you over the head and demands your attention. Should the agriculture minister have a background in farming? Perhaps. But McEntee shouldn't be anywhere near defence. Lives are on the line here people.

Every county council will vote on its 2027 budget in the next few weeks. In August I asked the Department to release 14 years of those budgets in excel format. They did. Here's what it shows about how central government funds local authorities and where Galway County sits. Data: data.gov.ie/dataset/local-au… (1/11)

We're being gaslit. We can (and recently, have) deployed our troops on training missions without needing UN approval. Here are the deets... Ireland participated in the EU Training Mission in Mali (EUTM Mali) from 2013 until its end in May 2024. Irish contributions ranged from 8 to about 20 personnel focused on training and advising the Malian Armed Forces. Oireachtas records explicitly noted that EUTM Mali was a training mission, so Dáil approval was not needed. It operated as an EU Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) mission; while the UN Security Council had called on regional bodies (including the EU) to assist with training and capacity-building, EUTM Mali itself was not a UN-mandated peacekeeping force. Under the Defence (Amendment) Act 2006 (sections 3(1)(b) and 3(1)(d)), Government approval alone is sufficient for deployments in a training, advisory, or similar non-combat role. Dáil approval and a UN mandate are not required in these cases. The Triple Lock (Cabinet 15 ministers agreement + majority of 174 TDs in Dáil resolution + UN authorisation) mainly applies when more than 12 Defence Forces members serve with an armed international force.

"Triple Lock reformed"? "reformed"? As in, "improved" or "modernised"? This is misleading and highly loaded language, and is disputed. What the Government wants to do is Dismantle The Triple Lock (Cabinet 15 ministers - 174 TD Dail - United Nations) which will give the Government, which holds a majority in the Dail, the power to deploy our troops whereever they want. And for those supporting such Dismantlement, think on and imagine what a future Government might look like... #DefendTheTripleLock

In 2024 we had 2 referendum. Both amendments were supported by the majority of the Dáil, Senate & likely the President. If they could have passed without recourse to referendum we would be told they had a mandate. We, the public, rejected both amendments overwhelmingly.
Minister for Defence Helen McEntee has said the government has the mandate to remove the triple lock and that the public has "put their trust" in this government to make decisions like this. jrnl.ie/7200380t
