Said no church father ever.
“Rock” is an aspect. But so is “rocky ground.” Peter chose to be the latter.

Jay Dyer has effectively ruined the use of philosophy in Christian apologetics. The phrases “epistemic justification” and “normative authority” have convinced pseuds that they don’t need to read Aristotle or Plato.

“There is no time for reading. Where do we ask for the books themselves? Where and when do we procure them? From whom do we buy them? For the well-being of our soul, times need to be allotted, hours assigned.” - St. Augustine, Confessions 6, 11, 18.

As an Oriental Orthodox, I agree that to accept Chalcedon is to accept, at least, the assertion of papal supremacy

I do think people need to take Christs saying “do not throw your pearls before swine” more seriously. Not everyone is worth arguing with.

I’m praying for everyone who is being hurt by their own family because of their faith in the Roman Catholic Church. Let’s pray for them. 🙏

this is what a dhimmi looks like the blood of the martyrs is also on the hands of people who have pushed this rhetoric for centuries they were not jordanian first when they died, they were slaughtered because they were specifically christian and thats the only reason they were killed maybe at least wait for the blood to dry before you try to get your clout with the animals who killed your people

What you find strange, I read as a deliberate message. As a Jordanian Christian: the victims are Jordanians first, and the attack targeted all Jordanians. Whoever wanted to divide us into Muslims and Christians, we won’t give them that.

St Maximus the Confessor: “Let him first hasten to satisfy the See of Rome… It is futile to try and persuade one like me without instead trying to satisfy and implore the blessed Pope of the holy Church of Rome. For that is the Apostolic See, which has received from the Incarnate Son of God Himself, universal and supreme dominion, authority, and the power of binding and loosing over all the holy churches. This is confirmed by all holy synods, according to the holy canons in the whole world.” –Disputations with Pyrrhus. Farrell, Joseph P., trans. South Canaan, PA: St. Tikhon’s Seminary Press, 1990.

French colonization was Karma for the Barbary slave trade.
This selective outrage is disgusting. Do you know how many muslim Algerian monuments France destroyed in Algeria, without the slightest restraint? The Djenina Palace in Algiers, an arab andalusian palace over 300 years old, razed in 1856. The Es-Sayida Mosque in Algiers, a historic mosque in the heart of the city, demolished in 1832. The Tachfiniya Madrasa in Tlemcen, a school and Quranic university from the Zianid era, more than 500 years old, demolished for nothing by France. Half of our casbahs were wiped out. And I never see any Muslim get outraged over the colonial history of Algeria. When you talk about colonialism, you only talk about human losses. Fine, Algeria is the land of 1.5 million martyrs. But there was also a cultural genocide. Our Islamic heritage, our wildlife and our forests, our education: all of it destroyed. So why are you crying over a burnt wall that will be restored within 48 hours?????????????????

An article of mine from a few months ago. The Catholic Church is intrinsically visible: and this means visible to the masses, not just to speculative theologians or to others who have studied scholastic manuals.
Given the continuing efforts of sedevacantists to lead the faithful astray, I have chosen to republish this important essay by Fr. Thomas Crean, OP, as a free post. Due to some unfortunate technical difficulties, the bulk of this essay had been lost on the internet (clicking “continue reading” led to a blank page), so it is now restored in its integrity. While it is true that lengthy efforts have been made to refute Fr. Crean’s arguments, I am convinced his case prevails, with the benefit of a simplicity that is recognizably Catholic and common-sensical. traditionsanity.com/p/a-city…
