Lazy work used to mean too little output.
Now, with AI, it often means too much and more work for everyone else.
@tobi call it "slop grenades."
A "Slop Grenade" is when you let AI produce the work and pass it on without adding any value (including checking it).
Someone else has to wade through it, catch the mistakes, and clean up the mess.
You save time and look productive but someone else pays for it.

Alibaba's AliExpress was caught using users' audio systems to track them.
AliExpress wasn't recording users but instead playing a silent sound and measuring how users' specific devices processed it in order to fingerprint them.
But don't worry because Brave stops this.

Yesterday I was going through my CD copy of OutRun, amazed by the vibrancy of his universe…
I remember reading all the updates about him on French Touch Forum as a teen and how nervous I was when I finally got to meet him.
Sending love to his friends and family.

I’m significantly older than you. I started coding in the late 60s. My current strategy is to not read any of the code written by my agents. That’s the only way I can take advantage of their productivity. What I do instead is to surround the agents with extreme constraints. Unit tests, gherkin tests, QA procedures, quality metrics, mutation testing, test coverage, and a plethora of others. In the end, I have very high confidence in the code they produce because they’ve had to run the gauntlet of all of my constraints and tests.
We are in the Singularity

my spicy theory is that chinese ai labs keep winning because of culture, not talent or resources.
chinese labs still have a deeply hands-on engineering culture. deepseek and kimi are flat organizations where science and engineering are fused: the same people move between algorithms, data, and infra, doing whatever it takes to make the model work.
but sf tech bros have decided that “researcher” is the high-status title while infra is merely support work. every new sf ai startup calls itself a “lab,” every ambitious engineer quietly upgrades their title to “research engineer,” and the infra work is left to whoever failed to escape it.
but at frontier scale, infra determines experiment velocity, and experiment velocity determines research output. at frontier scale, infra **is** research.

Today, on America’s 250th birthday, Susan and I are celebrating by giving $250 each to the first 25 million qualifying American children who sign up for their @InvestAmerica24 @TrumpAccounts.
This makes every child a shareholder in the greatest prosperity-creating engine the world has ever known — American capitalism. Through this public-private partnership, we’re giving the next generation a real stake in our economy and a path to the American Dream: education, a first home, starting a business, and building lasting wealth.
It unites us all in hope and optimism for every child’s future.
Happy 250th Birthday, America! 🇺🇸

Wow, I totally disagree with this statement. At the current state, AI actually amplifies the developer to developer difference. If you were a 10x developer, you had good ideas + architectural clarity, this is a brutal advantage when using AI. Steering is a fundamental part of today's AI development.
Chamath on how AI agents are making the "10x engineer" distinction disappear because the most efficient "code paths" are now obvious to everyone.
Just as AI solved chess and removed the mystery of the best move, AI is doing the same for coding, making the process reductive and removing technical differentiation.
"I'm going to say something controversial: I don't think developers anymore have good judgment. Developers get to the answer, or they don't get to the answer, and that's what agents have done. The 10x engineer used to have better judgment than the 1x engineer, but by making everybody a 10x engineer, you're taking judgment away. You're taking code paths that are now obvious and making them available to everybody.
It's effectively like what happened in chess: an AI created a solver so everybody understood the most efficient path in every single spot to do the most EV-positive (expected value positive) thing. Coding is very similar in that way; you can reduce it and view it very reductively, so there is no differentiation in code."
