Texas was built by hope. By people who had no business believing — but believed anyway.
To every Texan who’s ever wondered if anyone in power is paying attention: We are taking our state back.
Because a little bit of hope is a dangerous thing.

I was also a Captain in Afghanistan in the dismounted close combat role. I never got time off to go to Kabul HQ.
You are dishonest, disrespectful and dishonourable @PeteHegseth
You shame your country as @SecWar
Hegseth on Afghanistan:
I was a captain in Afghanistan, and we would go to the headquarters in Kabul, and there would be 50 flags at the headquarters.
It was a beautiful thing to see 50 different countries contributing to the NATO alliance and the ISAF mission there.
Except there were like maybe five that contributed. It was actually closer to one or two that, by the end, were actually involved in kinetic operations.
In fact, the ISAF patch, we would joke that it meant "I Saw Americans Fighting."
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Over 1100 non-American soldiers from 31 US-allied countries were killed fighting in Afghanistan, approximately 1/3 of the total combat deaths.

No one should have to do this.
Regardless, let it inspire you.
What else can YOU be doing right now?
And, no, tweeting is not enough.
So it’s official: Reuters has confirmed that the White House gave the order to disrupt Starlink so Russia could attack Kyiv with no advanced warning. The US aided and abetted Putin’s killing of numerous civilians in Ukraine. Trump’s a traitor, a Russian asset who is using US military technology to help our enemy.

Sen. Dan Sullivan: "Can I ask the moderator a question? We weren't supposed to get these questions beforehand, were we?"
Moderator: "Neither one of you got questions beforehand. Absolutely not."
Sullivan: "Okay, I'm just watching my opponent read from questions that seem to be answered."

Wow — listen to these new comments from Trump. Thanking Putin, trashing Zelenskyy, characterizing Russia as eager for peace and Ukraine as intransigent. The mask is totally off.

The FT reports that Witkoff and Kushner told Ukrainian officials in Miami that the US would cut off intelligence support if Ukraine keeps attacking Russian energy facilities.
When Congress is back next month, they ought to:
1) Invoke Section 216 of the Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA). This will allow Congress to investigate whether the waiver triggers Congressional review.
2) Bring @RepBrianFitz's bill to kill the diesel waiver to the floor via a discharge petition.
3) Speedily pass the FY2027 Intelligence Authorization Act. The Senate bill has a provision that would require continued intelligence sharing with Ukraine until a ceasefire or peace agreement, permit restrictions only for specific national security reasons, and require Congress to be notified within 15 days of any restrictions and their consequences.
And Republican and Democratic members need to message they are united on this and it will be happening.
