While we are being lectured to turn the heating down, eat less meat and cough up yet more “green” taxes so the planet can be saved, the politicians and the billionaires doing the lecturing are flying by private jet into places like Davos to eat caviar and congratulate each other on their virtue. The same politicians and billionaires who helped engineer the energy price spikes, the cost of living inflation, green taxes and the deliberate strangulation of reliable power repeatedly lecture us plebs on why we must accept a permanently poorer standard of living. They created the cost-of-living crisis with the policies they now demand we endure, then fly over it in carbon-spewing luxury to tell you the pain is virtuous. The rules are for the ruled. The jets, the motorcades, the government funnelled taxpayer funded net zero contracts to corporations and the moralising are for the rulers. “Net zero” has become yet another virtue con trick to facilitate yet another asset grab and wealth transfer to the wealthiest while squeezing everyone else.
