in the uk, if your local councillors don't support israel then the government stop your bin collection
I have joined Birmingham Labour colleagues in writing to the Council Leader. Green cabinet members must publicly disown their party’s “Zionism is Racism” motion. If they refuse, the power sharing agreement must end. Standing against racism requires leadership and action. 👇🏽

Is L.A. mayoral candidate Nithya Raman a capitalist? "I'm a capitalist and I'm also a Democratic Socialist...we need to make sure capitalism works without harm to workers... to poor people." She says the DSA is a "big tent" but she disagrees with members who call to abolish police, prisons and the Senate. Interview via @InsidePolitics on @CNN

Replying to @Dykeocletian
they're also reinforcing the idea that the state has no responsibility to the public in an emergency, when the various environmental and geopolitical crises do produce shortages or emergencies govt can say "well we told you to stock up" and frame those who suffer as irresponsible

The repeated warnings to prepare for war in the UK aren't based on a serious assessment. It's a comms strategy. The govt know that shifting spending to arms during a collapse in living standards is unpopular. They justify it by creating a war fever. It's as simple as that.

Mike Tapp: 'Zionism isn't ethnic cleansing!' Shehab Khan: 'So why can a Jewish guy in London get Israeli citizenship but a displaced Palestinian can't?' Mike Tapp: '...I didn't know that. That doesn't sound equal to me.' The absolute intellectual collapse. He spent whole time defending the ideology, only to admit he doesn't know how it actually works on the ground

One of the stupidest things I’ve ever heard from a UK government. Stock up because of a totally unspecified menagerie of dangers, ‘a dangerous and uncertain world’. What the fuck are they talking about? A desperate ploy to sow fear, low expectations and deference to government.
“Be ready by having some everyday essentials… three litres of water per person per day, tinned goods... to last a few days” Speaking to @vicderbyshire, Defence Secretary Wes Streeting details advice to households to be prepared for a “dangerous and turbulent world”. #Newsnight

Where are the buffer stocks, the strategic reserve, being built up by the government, which can afford to do what many households cannot? This “everyone for themselves” posture is an abdication of government responsibility. More strategic governance—less fussing with micro-issues
‘Be ready by having some everyday essentials indoors’ The Defence Secretary tells everyone to stock up on bottled water, tins, baby food, & pet food that will ‘last a few days’ Wes Streeting adds there isn’t ‘intelligence that says there’s about to be an attack’ #Newsnight

In the midst of violent repression of student protestors, she compared the language of campus protests to WMDs - a morally repugnant, intellectually obtuse essay.
lmao….not Zadie Smith signing this Sally Rooney letter as if we don’t all remember Smith’s 2024 @newyorker essay criticizing pro-Palestinian student protestors when it actually mattered. girl, pls, try cleansing your soul some other way🙄

Interesting how liberal zionists now frame the increasingly undeniable genocide as a universal evil that's 'lurking in all of us'. Idk man people have been resisting you for generations, you could have changed your mind a lot earlier but were simply too comfortable to do so.
Sorry but I reject this way of talking about the genocide of my people

Much like the Cass Review, the Bell Review cloaks ready-made conclusions in the guise of pseudo-academic inquiry, only this time the government preempted critique by feeding friendly media agreed lines before anyone could comb through it. The truth is out but the damage is done.
Only 5,000 kids were surveyed, only 92 were Jewish, only 70 of 92 responded, and 29 said they had faced antisemitism at school. Only 2% said antisemitism was a big problem at their school and we're reclassifying it as a more serious form of racism based on that? Is this a joke?

Trying to understand why a prominent Tory party member organising contract killings isn’t being given wall to wall coverage. The BBC hasn’t even mentioned it on their site.
🚨🇬🇧 Turning Point UK's CEO was filmed offering an undercover reporter a menu of beatings, stabbings and killings through a Glasgow contact who says he arms the UVF Al Jazeera’s undercover operation started in 2021 when a reporter joined the British offshoot of the American student group. Its CEO Jack Ross, a Conservative candidate in 2023, introduced the reporter to Allan Nesbitt, a convicted criminal and self-described UVF member, agreed on camera to pay him to stage a fake pro-Zimbabwe rally, and priced out what Nesbitt’s friends could do to a person, from cutting faces to MURDER. The UVF is the Ulster Volunteer Force, a Protestant loyalist paramilitary from Northern Ireland’s Troubles that killed over 500 people between 1966 and 1999, including 33 in one day in the Dublin and Monaghan bombings, and is still banned as a terror group. Since the peace deal it has run mostly as a drug gang that kept the name and the guns. Nesbitt reportedly met the reporter in a London hotel, offered to have a fictional business rival “finished,” claimed he’d personally stabbed a man to death, showed a shotgun and pistol on a video call and said the fee would buy weapons smuggled from Scotland into Northern Ireland. Ross says it was a joke. The joke came with a price list, a weapons demo and a smuggling route, and the police now have a name and a video... and wasn't particularly funny. Somebody in Turning Point UK’s donor base should be asking when the fundraising dinners turned into this. Source: Al Jazeera / Writer: Daniel

what an unexpected shock! on the plus side the digital ID industry's annual revenue has now doubled to £2bn and hundreds of random third party companies now have 10s of millions of people's sensitive information to sell and/or leak to the entire world!
🚨NEW: The Online Safety Act has been a failure, according to a new report from Ofcom. Ofcom have found "no significant change" in children encountering harmful content since the law came into effect last July. This is despite the signifigant threats to free speech and privacy.

What is the point of teaching children about the immorality of Nazism or the Holocaust if they can easily identify the same patterns being reproduced in Israel and Gaza and the response is they mustn't take sides?
this is deeply embarrassing. the review does not say that teachers should ignore children who as them questions about the conflict, rather it stresses that teachers must remain genuinely impartial. stop trying to speak over jews when we are telling you that antisemitism exists.
