i’m gonna come clean and say that i don’t really see it as special because the stagger bar turns what could’ve been a fun game about strategy into “use weakness and win.” like it really doesn’t have any interesting going on especially when compared to games like octopath 2

Most character redesign things are just not good because they immediately jettison the aspects that make the characters pop for things that "make sense"

i mean that's a flaw with how they made the skills. if your skills carry very little to no utility aside from the damage they bring to the table, that's going to naturally be the end result.
which isnt the case for FFR's utility skills; i find myself passing turns constantly.

They're talking about a Break system where you essentially wait for the victim to run out of stagger while buffing up and then annihilate them.

Why can’t you guys ever just have an opinion and stand on it without it devolving into you trying to be reactionary to save face?

You know, I wanted to make a statement about how the leveling system, lack of music for regular combat, and runbacks in Souls games has lead to a fan base that doesn’t really respect normal enemy encounters, but it’s astonishing they managed to QOL the *bosses* to death, too.
Fextralife played on Hell Walker, the hardest difficulty, while 66 Days is locked behind New Game Plus. He said enemies don’t respawn when you die: kill three, die, and return to fight only the remaining two. There’s no real fear of losing progress or replaying everything.
Personally I’m fine with that we’ve all played action games before. He thinks locking 66 Days behind New Game Plus is a mistake. I think he is right players should choose their challenge from the start. If someone wants to suffer on their first playthrough, let them. Others can save it for NG+.
Boss phases may frustrate some: reach phase three, die, and restart from phase three. It’s a deliberate choice we can respect, but people will have opinions.
Reviews matter because they highlight things developers might overlook. Some want the hardest challenge from the beginning. Give them the options and let them decide.
I hope they patch these. I’m happy it’s not a Souls-like, but it needs challenge. At least don’t lock 66 Days difficulty.

I like how he did not say this at all and you just made up an opp in your head

Some people just don’t like doing a decimal point of an enemy’s health in damage for 5 rounds, then 20% of it for one round before repeating the cycle.

I think this goes for a lot of game genres, hard counters are cool sometimes but I’m more of a fan of “organic” counters

Ig that’s more of what I want tbh, weaknesses and strengths that come from unique properties that give way to unique interactions rather than a binary weakness system
