Indian Govt. is incompetent, harasses its citizens. But unlike other friction - SIR has positive effect of evicting illegal Bangladeshis. + Gyanesh conducted peaceful WB elections - voters dismissed a tyrant who enrolled BD voters. Watch 🧵: xitter.cf/TheBongHead/status/206…
So many illegal bangladeshis are leaving Bengal via Hakimpur checkpost of Swarupnagar in Bengal. This is after BJP government has notified 3D plan (detect, delete and deport). Even though they have Bangladeshi citizenship, they were provided with voter, aadhar and pan.

When IT was booming, people, including the young, didn't care much about inequality within the country. MNCs were doling out rich cash, who cared about Adani. But as that windfall goes away, future looks more zero-sum, same population will look for scapegoats.

amazing to think had we been ~34 years late - how different the future of this piece of land would have been.

Indian justice system is a joke that this guy is totally free after blatantly forging documents in Assam election. Seems like Himanta has a secret understanding, the barking is all performative.
#WATCH | Delhi: On Rahul Gandhi's acquittal in a 2018 criminal defamation case, Congress MP Pawan Khera says, "The remarks were that Amit Shah has been a murder accused. The court has upheld that statement and found it non-defamatory. That is what the remark was. The court has recognised the statement as true, and we welcome the decision..." He adds, "These are badges of honour for Rahul Gandhi, who is leading from the front in the fight to uphold India's democracy and Constitution. This is a very unequal fight. Our weapons are truth and non-violence. Their weapons are falsehoods, violence, the misuse of agencies, and the misuse of resources..."

2. 对付 Claude Code(成功率 ~50%): 指示 Claude 建一个 .claude/settings.json,把 ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL 指向黑客服务器。

GMO Internet Group CEO Masatoshi Kumagai says that the internet itself is on the verge of collapse due to missuse of AI, and frames this event as a national crisis.
A cloud VPS service from Japan's massive GMO Internet Group used by foreign-exchange traders has been hacked. Attackers breached the servers, stole customer credentials, and executed balance-destroying trades across over 70 brokerages. GMO has asked government agencies for help.

Ends with Printing a LOT of money.
French protestors want higher public spending, wages, subsidies and pensions. Meanwhile France has gov’t spending of 57% of GDP (among highest of Western countries), deficits of 5% of GDP, 10 year bond rate >5%, and a currency they don’t control. I don’t understand how this ends.

The point of no return by Richard von Mises is worth reading: "A state becomes almost unreformable when the majority of the population is financially or structurally dependent on the state (state employees, civil servants, recipients of subsidies, grants, or transfer payments, etc.). As soon as those who net benefit from or are supported by the state outnumber those who do not, the system blocks reforms, since the majority votes out of self-interest for the preservation or expansion of state services." Does this sound familiar? Some European countries, France, Belgium, Finland are already way beyond that point, closely followed by Germany, Spain, Austria and Italy. It works for a while, as long as markets buy more sovereign debt at reasonable interest rates. The party ends when they stop though. For France, they stopped this month, Belgium will be next. The longer the socialist illusion persists, the more painful the inevitable cuts and adjustments will be. It’s pure arithmetic. Good luck Europe, good luck Euro. Buckle up, it won’t be pretty.

Today, the calendar makes a right triangle, for the last time this century. This Saturday is October 24, 2026. Write it as 10/24/26 or 24/10/26, and the same beautiful relationship appears: 10² + 24² = 26² 100 + 576 = 676 But here’s what makes today special. There are infinitely many Pythagorean triples. Only a handful fit our calendar. Using the rule month² + day² = (last two digits of the year)², the month cannot exceed 12, and the day cannot exceed 31. Those small limits leave exactly 12 qualifying dates in this century. Today is the last. The next will be March 4, 2105: 3² + 4² = 5² That is a wait of more than 78 years. An infinite family of triangles. Just twelve appearances on a century’s calendar. Happy Pythagorean Triple Day.

What is the oldest political news story you can remember? For me it's Joe Biden being selected as Obama's VP.

Look at the chaos unleashed. Crazy stuff. RBI’s new forex reporting regime kicked in on Oct 1. On Oct 7, the RBI Governor said individuals earning from overseas services (tutors, freelancers, consultants etc) don’t need to report. 23 days later. No FAQ. No written clarification. Banks still sending freelancers a four-spreadsheet Export Declaration Form. Only 2 of 90 banks have published the mandated SOPs via @SindhuHarih in @businessline

Meta observation on the Ibn Khalud article. X creates environment of extreme opinions. When he used to write on FB on similar topics a while back, there were many introspective comments from his community - totally absent on X today. X is very skewed.

Just another Sunday afternoon in SF: I paid $60 for 2 humanoid robots to clean for an hour. Here's how it went: (1) What happened: Sergey and Chelsea (the names of the two robots) finished about 80% of one floor in an hour: tidying, wiping down surfaces, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning the toilet. - They came with a staff engineer at the company, who dropped them off and picked them up after an hour. - They were controlled by 1 human operator each, in the Mission where the company office is at. - The engineer gave me a number to text them, I texted a request to wipe the mirror. They did it. (2) Performance and dexterity: Chelsea dropped a toy, struggled with a pillow, and had trouble balancing on the playmat. But overall, for all the tasks they did, grippers were enough. 5 fingers were not needed. - The engineer told me the hardest task for them was making bed. - They were quite loud, stomping around the house. Took a bit of time to get used to. They both wore gripper socks which protected the floors and helped them not slip. - Interaction: I didn't know they can respond via voice. In the end they were conversing with us in voice which was nice. (3) Unexpected observation: Their pants and shirts have holes in them. It's because they were dragged on and off the vans that transported them. (4) Other user feedback: I shared my experience with some friends afterwards. A user told me that unloading dishwasher was an "advanced task". They didn't attempt at mine since it was running at the time they were working. Another user said they scratched their hardwood floor. That's probably why they now wear gripper socks. (5) Did they do as well as human cleaners? In terms of the tasks they did, I think so. In terms of speed, they were ~80% speed of humans when it comes to the more delicate tasks, but I would say they are quite smooth. They didn't finish the whole place, so it wasn't a full service. (6) How does the math work out? Each booking was only for 1 hour, since their batteries need to be swapped after 1 hour. So they didn't finish the place. For a user: In SF, it's ~$200-220 to clean a full home around my neighborhood, with two human cleaners. Usually it takes around 2.5 hours. So around $40/manhour. This is $30/robot hour. Slightly cheaper, but again it's not fully finished with the 1 hour they were available. For the company: It took 2 robots, 2 human operators, 1 staff member to dropoff/pickup, and 1 driver of the van to transport the robot. Definitely labor intensive. But they also retain the data they collect for training purposes. (7) My biggest takeaway as a user: interaction / hospitality mattered. One of the humanoids was more friendly (Sergey), he waved at us when he came in. It'd have been great if they both introduced themselves in the beginning. Beyond that, being able to do 2 hour slots (instead of one) would be great to finish the cleaning. Overall, I appreciated their work and the fact that they got the robots out in people's homes. Deployment is not easy and so much learning from it each time

This is the “South Asia Bureau Chief” of @nytimes essentially perpetuating a dog-whistle against another Moslem columnist who has expressed a contrary opinion on a topic. The constant taunts about the pseudonym essentially carry a threat - if we ever learn your real identity, you cannot hide. This person knows exactly what he’s doing. And the @nytimes has no issues with it. It has zero credibility left on covering the Indian Subcontinent 🤷🏻‍♂️
I’ve long wondered about this practice: how is it ok, in today’s age, to have a ‘pseudonym’ columnist? I’d understand for whistleblower; personal story of risk. But for a regular “analysis”column that can fire away anything on India’s most divisive issue without accountability?

God there are hit jobs - and then are mother-of-all-hit jobs. Anyone can inspect the code. Yes the WB ERO has Enumeration Form Visibility hidden. Likely because the SC has transfered review responsibility to Judicial Officers. Will try to share Claude link in comment.
Here tumbles out another skeleton from our ECI’s cupboard. Now, it is a regular, daily fare. Disband this ECI.

While only EC can verify, the explanation is also easy to intuit from other parts of code: - BLO collects verification form from voter - but BLO cannot view it (as per this code) - ERO can view it (they review BLO work) - but in WB, Judicial Officers are reviewing ERO work
