As predicted, the plateau before the holidays was temporary. Festive gatherings and JN.1 have us back in a nasty wave.
This wave is very different from the somewhat predictable patterns of the last couple of years.
#Virus update for Ottawa, #Canada (Jan 8, 2024)
#Wastewater levels in #Ottawa are extremely high and rising again with the JN.1 #Pirola variant now the most prevalent. #Hospitalization *for* #COVID-19 started declining just before the holidays but is increasing again.🧵1/

School staffing shortages are leading to cancelled classes, burnout, and mounting pressures.
The Ford govt must focus on improving the working conditions of teachers and educators to improve retention and recruitment. This means providing funding for smaller classes, adequate front-line staffing to support students with special education needs, access to mental health supports for students and educators, and professional learning to support educators. It also means respecting teachers and educators and working with us to improve #onted.

Wearing a mask is not about politics, it is about limiting the illness that you put yourself through. No one likes to be sick, so mask up.

Part of the duties of being a CMOH is to educate the public. So why did none of them warn the people of Canada about the immense danger of Long Covid when they had information about it since July of 2020? Not one! #Covid19 #NotMild #Maskup #LongCovid #CovidIsntover
Provincial CMOHs, have had info on Long Covid since July of 2020.
They have warned NO ONE!
At least 3.5 million Canadian adults have developed Long Covid Since 2020.
This is why so many advocates won’t stop.

We are hearing from so many families that are struggling. They're on the carousel of constant illness where kids bring something home, it works its way through the family, and then some new virus comes home from school. Schools are germ factories. It's time to #CleanTheAir.

Is everyone getting sick for the holidays? Health officials urge public to get #influenza, #COVID19 vaccines. Families with young children report recurrences of respiratory illnesses.

Your government has been destroying and privatizing health care since you took control in 2018. Emergency departments across Ontario are frequently closed. You’ve been battling nurses in court to keep our wages low, and are the cause of so many leaving the profession. #onpoli
