I genuinely don't know how much longer they can keep this quiet.
Someone I know in a VERY senior position in the Federal Reserve has just told me something extremely concerning.
Apparently today's market collapse has triggered a liquidity crisis at one of the largest financial institutions in the country.
The issue is AI infrastructure debt, not their equity exposure.
Billions in loans are secured against projected data centre revenues that simply don't exist.
And apparently they've been using the projected revenues from those SAME data centres to justify further borrowing.
He described it as "a circular financing structure." WTAF does that mean???
The bank has reportedly approached the Fed for emergency liquidity. Officials have apparently been instructed to avoid using the words "insolvency", "contagion" or "AI bubble" in any written comms.
The Treasury is involved. So are at least four other banks, and a bunch of top hedge funds.
My contact says they've been quietly preparing emergency measures for a market event that could make 2008 look insignificant.
I asked how much money would be required to stabilise the system, and he said they don't know yet.
He thinks the total stimulus required to prevent the majority of Americans losing their homes, is greater than the current national debt of the United States.
WAKE UP. JUDGEMENT DAY IS HERE.

Dear Democrats,
You won your historic victory on Tuesday with the help of our America First coalition on 4 key basic issues.
1. End foreign wars, war in Iran, and funding for Israel.
2. Reduce cost of living and gas/diesel (economy)
3. End corruption in Gov
4. Reduce cost of healthcare/health insurance
Which were also key components of the mandate delivered to Trump and Republicans, which they betrayed and failed to deliver.
Your party has two factions, older establishment Dems and younger populists Dems.
If the New Democrat majority returns to issues that lost your majority and presidency in 2024 and doesn’t stay focused on those 4 main issues, then the American populists movement that swung it big for you this cycle will not vote for you in 2028.
For example, bringing back 2020-2024 issues like woke, identity politics, forcing trans issues, gun control, Covid vaccine mandates, and open borders are not the issues that drove this massive blue tsunami.
Allowing the older establishment Democrats to run back to those issues that were defeated in the 2024 election would be a very grave mistake, tone deaf, and would completely undermine the opportunity you have before you.
The country didn’t suddenly join the Democrat Party with a sworn allegiance to always vote Democrat.
The country voted to end Trump and to refocus back to the main kitchen table issues that are hurting their lives.
And most of the younger generations of voters could care less about team party politics and just beating the other side.
The future is all about, “deliver results for Americans” and whoever can get it done.
To be very clear, I’m conservative and have voted Republican my entire life, but went into open rebellion and war against Trump and Republicans, the man I worked tirelessly to put in office because he betrayed his promises and the Republican Party turned back to it’s repulsive neocon elite donor focused ways and refused to deliver for the American people.
Our entire coalition did, we ended the Trump era and burned our party down, but we didn’t turn into Democrats.
For both parties need to realize that most Americans want the same basic things and the future belongs to an independent minded left/right powerful coalition that will force our elected and tax payer funded government to deliver for Americans or face punishment at the polls.
Focus on the issues that won on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, not issues the American people defeated in the past.
The ball is in your court.
Good luck!

A word of caution: This election was a referendum on Trump with independents & many conservatives voting to stop him. It was not an embrace of Sanders-style progressivism. Yes, Democrats should fight for their principles, but they've not yet won over the public on this stuff.

I like your metaphor that wealth is like a different state of matter, but the cumulative power of these oligarchs, plus the technological time and place feels ahistorical and irreversible

This paragraph by C.S. Lewis, written in 1948, still hits hard:
“If we are all going to be destroyed by an atomic bomb, let that bomb when it comes find us doing sensible and human things—praying, working, teaching, reading, listening to music, bathing the children, playing tennis, chatting to our friends over a pint and a game of darts—not huddled together like frightened sheep and thinking about bombs. They may break our bodies (a microbe can do that) but they need not dominate our minds.”

.@DylanRatigan's essay revives Teddy Roosevelt’s trustbusting voice: monopoly is private power masquerading as enterprise, choice replaced by a captive customer. Both men are right & a century apart, the diagnosis hasn’t changed. True capitalism is rivalrous, voluntary exchange where consumers enter freely & exit freely, forcing creators to keep earning every dollar. That relentless pressure forged America’s unmatched innovation, abundance & global dominance. Remove it & the forging stops.

The statistics on this suggest that the people fully understand how dangerous the presidential predecessors have been an establishing the fertile soil for the open and destructive corruption that is now rampant in our government. In some ways, this old version is even more dangerous because it is designed to posture as moral and decent while behaving in the most deeply destructive way. To pretend to give people healthcare Weill ignoring what creates health and forcing everyone to buy Unreformed monopoly Insurance in ever skyrocketing price spiral and pretend to have done something good is beyond words.

Health insurance premiums are set to spike another 9% next year across the board. Who can afford any of it? But a Fed rate hike isn't going to stop it either. Certainly won't do anything about diesel prices.

Two things are true at once:
1. China distrusts US calls for an AI slowdown, seeing it as an effort to slow down China.
2. China is getting more worried about AI risks, not just deepfakes and AI content but cyber risks and autonomous agents.

The assumption about sophisticated investors was made in the run-up to the Great Financial Crisis when talking about subprime mortgage backed securities ... turns out sophisticated investors can't assess the risk and value of opaque securities ... they too need sufficient disclosure so they can know what they own ...
This sort of works if you assume that data center investors are largely sophisticated, and that's probably true. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

Greed and Arrogance killed American AI
I've been thinking about the release of Kimi K3 and the impacts on Anthropic and OpenAI. The entry of this model is a technical milestone for open weighted models, but it's also a catastrophic structural event for Western AI venture capital.
The leadership teams at OpenAI and Anthropic made a historic timing mistake. They should have had their IPO in Q4 2025 when market euphoria was detached from economic reality. By waiting into 2026 or 2027 to seek public listings, they have allowed the underlying unit economics of LLMs to become heavily commoditized before their IPOs.
For the past two years, OpenAI and Anthropic have deferred their IPOs, trying to hit $1 trillion valuations. They bet on a scarcity premium, which is the idea that only they could build and sell frontier class intelligence. Moonshot (and Deepseek and others before them) broke that thesis completely.
Kimi K3 matches or beats Claude Fable 5 and GPT-5.6 Sol on enterprise benchmarks. The kicker is that Moonshot is dropping the full model weights openly. When a company valued at $20bn gives away the same tier of intelligence that a much larger company is trying to lock behind a paid API, the fundamental value proposition devalues immediately. The premium pricing model for Western APIs is collapsing under the weight of open weights global alternatives.
The math no longer maths for public markets. Anthropic and OpenAI are sitting on massive capital requirements and circular compute obligations to their cloud backers. At the same time, enterprise buyers are quickly realizing they can self host frontier level open models, completely bypassing the high margin toll booths Western labs planned to build.
Late stage private investors who jumped into recent funding rounds are sitting on an unmitigated disaster. The delta between the capital required to stay competitive and the collapsing margin profile means a massive reckoning is coming.
There are only two logical conclusions to this capital structure. The first is a bruising down round, which would be a valuation slash so severe that it entirely wipes out the returns of late stage private risk takers. The second option is corporate recapitalization or structural absorption. The most expedient path forward will not be a traditional IPO but a corporate reset.
The current capital structures may need to be washed out, potentially through strategic restructurings or bankruptcy style recapitalizations, to reset these firms at a realistic valuation baseline on par with global open weight competitors.
The frontier labs did not build a wide enough economic moat before the open weights world caught up. Intelligence has become a utility faster than Silicon Valley could commercialize it.

My criminal referral for Jerome Powell to the DOJ was not political. Any efforts to politicize this is a distraction from simple facts: Powell lied to Congress and should be held accountable as anyone else would be.
No one is above the law.
