To put this into perspective, when energy prices surged at the start of the Ukraine war, our community hydro scheme - despite being hobbled by an unfair UK energy market - funded a £150 cost of living payment to every local household. The UK Government couldn't even match that.

Chancellor removes gas standing charges, as we argued when I was Chair if the Commons Energy Committee. But he has left electricity standing charges. Not a budget mindful of people in islands and rural areas, who have no gas option!

🗣️ Westminster has finally admitted that Scotland should have had an oil fund worth at least £1 trillion. Scotland’s vast energy wealth has been squandered. Scotland must not lose out again. Every penny of energy wealth from Scotland’s waters must be reinvested into Scotland!

When Labour came to power, the price cap was £1,414 and they promised to cut bills by £300. Now, new EDF forecasts show the price cap hitting £2,389 in April – £1,275 higher than promised. Only with independence, can we cut bills and build a better fairer future for Scotland.

Half our village is without power this morning because of Storm Boelo. Building a nuclear power station in Scotland wouldn't have prevented that. Going off grid and using long term hydrogen storage would have. @ScotIncGrowth @D_G_Alexander
Collaboration between both governments is crucial - and it’s heartening to see such a change of approach - But so is respect for the democratic differences which devolution was constructed to enable. On ☢️ there is still no safe disposal route for the waste. 🤔

Here’s a Labour Chancellor hiding the truth from the people of Scotland. Not so much a “conspiracy” as a matter of recorded history. Yet there are still those who seek to deceive.
McCrone is doing the rounds again. So, a reminder of what really happened in the 1970s.

Oh look say @STVNews 'Rosebank crude will go to Dutch refinery as no suitable refinery capacity in Yow Kay.' No mention that country whose oil is being siphoned now has no refinery. Grangemouth was sabotaged (passive industrial) by UK Gov in cahoots with Ratcliffe's @PetroineosGM

💥 NEW: Prepare for food shortages and disruption, Wes Streeting warns, on day one of three year campaign to make the public more resilient. Britons should have enough food, water, cash and medical supplies to last three days. Make a "grab bag" in case you have to leave home and keep essentials in the car boot. As a side note, Norway is allowed to withdraw a maximum of 3% of the fund’s estimated real return each year to help fund the national budget. Just think what that could have paid for in Scotland. The total fund is worth around £320,000 for every Norwegian citizen.
NEW Britain’s missing sovereign wealth fund… Treasury officials have modelled that had the UK done what Norway did with North Sea revenues, there would be a £1 trillion fund… As Chancellor sets up Energy Wealth Fund, a look at the long historical argument about where the oil windfall went, including from interviews with those who have run Norways $2.4 trillion fund, now the biggest in the world, filled from the proceeds of the same North Sea. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cm4g…

Scotland’s missing sovereign wealth fund. Treasury officials have modelled that had Labour done what Norway did with North Sea revenues, there would be a £1 trillion fund. Instead they told us the oil would soon run out. Stand by for an apology from Gordon Brown & Co….

It was a Labour Chancellor, Denis Healey, who was in office when Westminster kept the McCrone Report secret from Scotland. Published in 1974, it warned North Sea oil could make an independent Scotland extraordinarily wealthy. It remained secret until 2005.
‘We'd have a British sovereign wealth fund now that will be worth probably a trillion pounds’ Chancellor @JohnHealey_MP suggests what Britain could have gained if it had set up an energy wealth fund like Norway’s back in the 1980s #Peston
