Deirdre, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but An Post does not use Eircode. This has been known at Government level for several years but it was decided not to tell the Public.
I know it's not what you want to hear but sorry to say that it is well established that An Post does not use Eircode
Eircode misrouting issues continue;- most recently reported by a Councillor from @sligococo
There are several documented examples of Eircode misrouting causing delays to ambulances but, to date, Eircode has failed to acknowledge the serious issue.
Eircode can not be used as a reference for postcodes - the National Postal service in Ireland (An Post) is unable to use it!
Eircode is not unique per property:
Some propeties have no Eircode, some like apartment blocks have multiple Eircodes per building all pointing to the same location AND eircode is not a postcode as it is not used for post

An Post does not use Eircode - they require, by 2012 High Court decision, the full Postal Adress instead
