Would you cut down trees because their seeds smell, instead of doing a better job of cleaning up after them?

👀 Big announcement incoming from PM on driving grid connectivity.
⚡️Join our @thefabians event at @JeevunSandher, @DJforEdS, @lucyfshaw & @CllrMarcus to discuss how we can make this a reality
11:15 at @theBluecoat
Grid connections is finally top of the PM's agenda! Get into the details on what this will mean at our @thefabians panel @ 11.15am at Bluecoat today to talk about the government's hottest new policy announcement for energy with me, @JeevunSandher (DESNZ PPS), @DJforEdS and @Arup
The importance of grid connection speed to bringing down energy bills has gone mainstream! This is good news for solving a binding constraint of getting generation & demand projects connected faster and develops a publicly-owned alternative for grid investment
Pls fix: energy Manel at @UKLabour conference ft @centricaplc x @xenergynuclear x @ardenstrategies
Centrica CEO Chris O'Shea was keynote at @energyvoicenews Women in New Energy conference, hoped to see more support at Labour conference
Thx @LabourWomensNet for this campaign

Local and national gov can also work together on public EV charging, which is up to 8x more expensive than charging at home. Get charge point operators access to real-time energy prices and make parking bays easier to install. More here: youtube.com/watch?v=Oll3hoEw…
What a privilege to be invited to watch @andyburnham arrive at No 10 yesterday and give his first speech as Prime Minister - where he committed to bringing down energy bills as one of his first acts in government
Today, Labour cut VAT from electricity - here's the impact:
4) Targeting energy costs directly has a flow-through to inflation - in this case, reducing it by 0.1%. This impacts basically all contracts in the energy sector (networks, CfDs, ROs, FiTs), and will generate a multi-hundred pound windfall on inflation linked gilt costs.
5) This is just the beginning - excited to see what's coming next to bring down energy bills under @Miatsf's leadership and will be writing up ideas on my Substack (slowburn.org.uk) in addition to championing energy cost-saving policies in Kensington and Chelsea.
Public EV charging costs up to 8x as much as charging at home, affecting 80% of drivers who park on-street.
We can do better for residents in Kensington and Chelsea on cost of living and the climate, as I told our Council during London Climate Action Week.
Kensington has installed around 1,000 chargers, but residents report that they're often broken or that non-EVs use the parking spaces. They are also frustrated that the cost of charging is so much higher than if they could run a wire from their homes, which is prohibited.

Last night, I delivered my maiden speech @RBKC. I spoke about how the council’s new Community Safety Plan must tackle the inequality that drives the higher crime rates in North Kensington. A fairer borough is one in which residents feel safe in all parts.
Reducing energy bills isn't just national policy - if local government is on board too, it could be faster and cheaper. Read more in my @guardian letter:
