"People come up to me all the time—big strong men, with giant quill pens and tears pouring down their cheeks—and say 'Sir, the Magna Carta is truly a great Carta, but no one makes Cartas like you do, tremendous Cartas like no one has ever seen. How do you do it? How do you keep the Sharpie from smudging the parchment?'"

Like a teenage boy in search of those special tingly feelings…Hegseth got to blow some stuff up and capture the flag. The America we knew slips farther away with every passing day.

Nexstar announced last month it had entered into a $6.2B merger with Tegna. The corporate merger will require approval from the FCC. Trump's goon at FCC threatened Nexstar, using its power over the deal to get Jimmy Kimmel fired. That's government oppression of free speech.

In all Trump's solitary, predatory life, Jeffrey Epstein seems the closest thing Trump ever had to a friend.

The US has already achieved the first, essential condition for an authoritarian (or, indeed, dictatorial) regime: It has normalised lying in public life to the point that its supporters simply do not care about the truth any longer. No democracy can function that way for long.

Why do Trump, Musk, and the MAGA team ridicule, offend, and berate our allies but never say anything critical about our adversaries? Strange.

When making a MAGA cabinet, it's very important to strike a careful balance between billionaires, sex criminals, Russian assets, anti-vaxxers, and just plain unpleasant people.

Trump will not support Ukraine. If you're pro-Ukraine, you can't be pro-Trump.
Trump: We should have never gone into Ukraine. If I was president, you would have never gone into Ukraine.

“I’m saying that just goes to show what a tremendous betrayal this is. It’s such a callous indifference to the sacrifices that his supporters made on his behalf.” Of course, Fuentes’s complaint isn’t that Trump lied in the first place; it’s that Trump didn’t stick to the same lie. But still. Anyway, it’s as though Trump broke the sociopath code of honor. 😵‍💫🙄 Couldn’t make this shit up if you tried.
White nationalist Nick Fuentes blasts Trump for admitting that he lost the 2020 election: "So, why did we do Stop the Steal? ... It would have been good to know that before 1,600 people got charged." rightwingwatch.org/post/a-bi…

For two years of our early married life, @DCrittenden1 and I lived in a Manhattan apartment owned by a successful psychiatrist. He kept his office on the ground floor of the same building. Hour after hour, limousines idled at his curb waiting for his patients to emerge. 1/x

BREAKING: Republican Liz Cheney on Trump’s apparent nomination as Nikki Haley drops out of GOP primary : “The GOP has chosen. They will nominate a man who attempted to overturn an election and seize power. We have eight months to save our republic & ensure Donald Trump is never anywhere near the Oval Office again.”

It's become too easy to skip over the obvious but staggering point about '24, partly because none of the remaining @GOP candidates and all too few of the party's elected leaders are willing make it: The Republican Party is steaming toward nominating a candidate for POTUS who is facing 4 criminal indictments, including one for plotting to overturn a free and fair election. He very well could be a convicted felon by the Republican convention in July. And he could win! We should not lose sight of the meaning of this. It would be a stunning rebuke of the rules, norms, laws and institutions upon which our democracy is founded and would have profound implications for the future.
