Ramaphosa on the MTBPS: "confidence and stability… significant progress along the path of recovery… steadily improving the conditions for far greater investment, growth and job creation."
Reality check: Treasury just cut 2026 growth to 1.2%, down from 1.6% in February. Population growth is also 1.2%, so income per person stays flat. Unemployment rose to 33.6% in Q2, up two quarters running, and youth unemployment is 47.4%, so almost half of young people who want work can't find it. Fixed investment fell in both quarters of the first half, with private business pulling back, and GDP shrank 0.2% in Q2. Debt has finally stabilised at 78.4% of GDP, a real fiscal win. But zero growth per person isn't a recovery that creates jobs or lifts people out of poverty. It's stagnation with better bookkeeping.
Local elections are on 4 November, nine days away. Is he electioneering, or does he really believe this is a rosy picture? The numbers fit the first one better.

Beyond the funds that have been dedicated over the next three years to growing the economy, creating jobs and fighting poverty, this MTBPS signals confidence and stability.
It shows that we have made significant progress along the path of recovery and demonstrates our commitment to continue along that path. In doing so, we are steadily improving the conditions for far greater investment, growth and job creation.

Liar!!!
Your ANC Government is so poor at its job, it means that black people flee like refugees from the chaos that is the Eastern Cape to vastly increase their chances of employment in the well governed Western Cape.
[WATCH] THE DA CALLS SOUTH AFRICANS REFUGEES HERE IN CAPE TOWN
Our people decided to build shacks on the railway line here in kwaLanga, Cape Town instead of following through on what I had initiated to get people houses, the DA ignored that and instead called our people, South Africans from mostly the Eastern Cape, refugees, that’s what the DA said. We found plots for our people to build houses but the DA refuses to help our people here in the Western Cape.

Fact.
Martin van Staden, the man behind the infamous race law count in South Africa, said that race laws are alive and thriving in the country.

NPA STATE CAPTURE SCORECARD (Presidency, as at 31 Mar 2025)
218 Zondo criminal recommendations
10 finalised (5%)
36 enrolled
35 stalled on extradition and other dependencies
17 never investigated
4 guilty verdicts
NPA says: complex cases, defence delays, capacity hollowed out.
Why it matters: 3 years after Zondo, 95% still not finalised.
Starlink has pledged free internet for 5,000 rural schools (R500m, ~2.4m learners). It's conditional on SA accepting equity-equivalent investment instead of the 30% ownership rule. The Minister backed that route; ICASA says the law must change first. So the schools wait.
My view: when politics beats free connectivity for poor kids, government is telling the youth education isn't the priority.
Why it matters: in a digital economy, an unconnected school is a closed door.
Since 24 May 2026, SA bans household bulbs under 105 lumens/watt. In practice that leaves LEDs as the only legal option, and NRCS is now raiding shops and online stores.
My concern: I don't believe LED lighting is the best for our eyes, and several eye doctors I've spoken to share that view. Yet government has removed the choice entirely, and the gazette cites no health assessment.
Why it matters: a decision affecting every household's eyes deserves a proper public health debate, not just an efficiency rule.
4,323 on the state payroll flagged as high-risk "ghost worker" cases – the same figure Treasury cited in the Feb 2026 Budget.
8 months on: no department breakdown, no named cases, no prosecutions reported. Results "by the 2027 Budget".
Why it matters: deferred again.

Most task teams and commissions set up by @CyrilRamaphosa are useless and waste money. He creates them to deflect and drain the state coffers.

The ANC is a mafia style organisation.
A vote for ANC is a vote for poverty, poor service, inferior education, and joblessness.
[WATCH] ANC National Chairperson Cde Gwede Mantashe tells a community meeting that the ANC does not claim to be perfect. It has made mistakes, corrected them and continued working to improve people’s lives. The ANC builds on its experience in government and the progress already made. On 4 November, vote ANC.

An excellent question posed by @markmywords
For as long as the public have no clear understanding of a state organisations' governance activities, with no independently assured and audited #governance reports - taxpayers will continue the bailouts.
It's an endless drain pit! – at Sir Lowry's Pass, South Africa
Again, South African taxpayers are exposed via Denel. National Treasury has provided guarantees of R660 million plus US$14 million (~R889–R891 million) — a contingent liability rather than an immediate cash transfer — so the state-owned defence company can meet obligations on secured contracts. This follows billions in earlier recapitalisations, while Denel continues to report operating losses, liquidity constraints and its ninth consecutive audit disclaimer. The MTBPS notes the principal fiscal risk remains Denel’s ability to stabilise without further support. How long will we let @GovernmentZA plunder our funds before it’s enough?
