You are completely correct. For two decades the largest science con I'm aware of, has brainwashed an entire generation of scientists working in exercise, metabolism & health. The originators of the defective & oft fabricated data, remain front & centre

All Israeli citizens have equal rights.
There may be some inequality as there is in eve country, but nowhere near that of Islamic countries who don't even hold elections. Obsessed dimwit!

Patrick, the Irish man who told a Jewish woman that he wish Hitler had finished the job, has been convicted of condoning crimes against humanity and of making death threats.
Remember all the people here accusing the Jewish victim of using the name Paddy as a slur, well now we know she was telling the truth the whole time. Assuming she was lying in the first place is clear racism against Jews. But unfortunately I highly doubt most of them will be doing any introspection on the matter.
Found guilty of condoning crimes against humanity and making death threats aggravated by their antisemitic nature, the defendant was sentenced to six months' imprisonment (suspended)

I'm not Israeli, but if I lived on a tiny strip of land surrounded by genocidal Muslims, yet managed to win all the wars, become one of the richest countries per capita in the world, and a hub of technology, science, and innovation, I'd be pretty damn proud.

Palestinians can’t vote in Israel because they are not Israeli. How fucking hard is it to understand. I can’t vote in France, I’m not a citizen there. Ffs people are stupid. They could vote in the PA but they won’t hold elections there

As someone who has helped companies pioneering the use of AI for drug discovery, this is BS. Sure, AI is a tool that we all should deploy to the best of our abilities, but the idea that AI is going to unveil new medicines at a stunning rate the way it will upend cinema, video games, financial services, advertising, gambling, etc., is a bit absurd. New medicine discovery will be one of the laggards in terms of AI revolution. Healthcare provision, diagnostics, and paperwork streamlining will all move ahead faster.
Biology will continue to eat everything, AI included.
Anthropic's S-1 is out

Israeli Exit Polls show Netanyahu's been defeated.
Israel has rejected his dark vision, forever war & cruel, dystopic, authoritarian policies.
But to succeed, the anti Netanyahu block needs to work with the Israeli Arab parties.
I dearly hope this great chance isn't wasted
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Exit polls showed neither Netanyahu's bloc nor the opposition reaching the 61 seats needed for a majority, resulting in a deadlock rather than a clear defeat.

If your muscles ache on a statin, the pill is probably not the problem.
In 19 blinded trials of 123,940 people, about 27 in 100 reported muscle pain or weakness over four years on a statin, and about 27 in 100 on a dummy pill.
1) Year one is the outlier. On a statin, about 1 extra person in 90 reported aches that year, so only about 1 in 15 of those aches were due to the drug. After that, the gap closed. The trialists judged that over 90% of aches reported on statins were not caused by the drug.
2) In one big trial, aches were the same on drug and placebo while the pills were disguised. Then everyone was offered the drug openly. After that, statin users reported 41% more aches than non-users, even though people had chosen whether to take it. The authors called this the nocebo effect: expecting harm can make people feel it.
3) A UK trial gave people who had stopped statins over aches, or were about to, blocks of drug and dummy pill without saying which. Their ache scores differed by only about a tenth of a point on a 10-point scale. Of those who finished, about two thirds said they had restarted a statin or planned to.
4) Dose matters a little. High doses, such as 40 to 80 mg of atorvastatin, brought slightly more aches than lower doses. Rare serious muscle damage is different, so report any weakness.
Statins cut heart attacks and strokes. Most aches are not from the drug. If they bother you, ask your doctor about a lower dose before you stop.

This might be the most economically illiterate and dishonest statistical sleight-of-hand on X.
By this exact logic:
• The US is an "apartheid state" because Mexican citizens in Tijuana can't vote in US elections.
• France is an "apartheid state" because Algerians can't vote in Paris.
100% of non-Jewish Israeli citizens have full voting rights, they vote, run political parties, sit in the Knesset, and serve as Supreme Court justices.
The Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza are not Israeli citizens. Under the internationally recognized Oslo Accords (signed by the PLO), they vote for their own government, the Palestinian Authority or Hamas in Gaza.
The reason they haven’t voted in 18 years isn't Israel—it’s because Mahmoud Abbas is in year 20 of a 4-year term and cancelled elections out of fear that Hamas would overthrow him and since Hamas was elected in 2007, they stopped elections and moved to a more weaponized approach..
Conflating sovereign citizenship with a foreign population under military occupation isn't profound, Niels-it’s just redefining the word "apartheid" until it loses all legal meaning.

Salman Rushdie never contributed his royalties to a terrorist organization. Sally Rooney was never the subject of a fatwa issued by a foreign leader. Also Rooney is no Rushdie. The comparison is odious but in keeping with the BBC support for the antizionist hate movement.

Strawman, and a pretty plain one. Her books were banned because the proceeds were going to a proscribed group, not due to her political views. Would you be ok if she said she wants all the proceeds to go to ISIS?

Funding a proscribed terrorist organisation doesn’t align with liberal democracy. Or at least it shouldn’t.
The same people Rooney wants to support are the same people who would have supported the fatwa against Rushdie.

This guy should be in prison. He single-handedly faked data in at least two high-impact papers.
Instead, he got to enjoy the generous salary of a Schmidt Science Fellow, has received zero punishment, and has now simply moved on to pastures anew (writing about classical music).
Retraction note for his 2022 Science Translational Medicine paper: science.org/doi/10.1126/scit…

Nature paper he was a middle author on with an editor's note due to possible data fabrication: nature.com/articles/s41586-0…
and associated PubPeer: pubpeer.com/publications/292…
And no, prison is not too harsh. He's threatened the careers of every other scientist on his papers, stained the institutes he was at & journals he's published in, and has added to growing distrust in science. He's also likely sent many other scientists down unproductive rabbit holes because they believed his fake data were real. All of this also means ~millions of wasted dollars on fake science or science misled by fake science.
Lack of punishment = incentive. We need to seriously crack down on proven fraudsters. Prison is entirely appropriate imo.
