If true, Flávio Bolsanaro made it to the US without a passport — it was confiscated given his crimes in Brazil. Flávio is not a dual citizen, thus would be in the US without status. As we’ve always said: US immigration rhetoric + violence is simply racist and pro-fascist:

Bummer to see in print, as someone who has a lot of respect for Dr. West’s work, but not totally unexpected. We have a growing organized socialist left, and lone wolves without institutional backing should be met with suspicion, given the state of our campaign finance system.

If you still take Glenn Greenwald seriously, take it from a Brazilian: Glenn has completely abandoned reason, and his credibility in Brazil is in ruins. The cases he portrays as judicial persecution actually involve serious crimes committed by people who plotted a coup against Brazil’s democracy. That plot even included plans to assassinate President Lula, Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, and others. Glenn is no longer the journalist he once was. He no longer cares about facts. He cares about one thing: desperately trying to convince himself and his audience that he has uncovered another earth-shattering scandal. He hasn’t. And he knows it. The judge Glenn keeps portraying as a dictator is no dictator. That doesn’t mean he’s above scrutiny. In fact, his ties to corrupt banker Daniel Vorcaro absolutely warrant investigation. But here’s what Glenn conveniently leaves out: Flávio Bolsonaro had even closer ties to that very same banker. We want BOTH to respond to justice. Glenn demands that the judge be investigated, yet somehow, when it comes to Flávio Bolsonaro, suddenly it’s all “political persecution” and “censorship.” The hypocrisy is breathtaking. He’s completely lost the plot. If you’re reading this from outside Brazil, understand one thing: Glenn Greenwald has burned through virtually every ounce of credibility he once had in this country. After four years of outrageous claims, shameless distortions, and an absolutely colossal mountain of bullshit, he’s become a walking parody of the journalist he used to be.
CRUCIAL FACTS ON THE FLAVIO BOLSONARO MATTER: It's not just Flavio Bolsonaro who fled Brazil to escape the tyrannical persecution of Alexandre de Moraes and the pro-Lula wing of the Supreme Court. There are dozens of Brazilian exiles who have done the same: dissident journalists, activists, bloggers, and politicians who all fled to avoid certain prison for political opposition. In most of these cases, Moraes has demanded the extradition of those who fled and whom he wants to imprison back in Brazil. But Moraes' extradition requests have been repeatedly denied by multiple countries and institutions on the grounds that these prosecutions are politically motivated or otherwise corrupted. Among those concluing this: Spain, Italy, INTERPOL, and even the US under Biden. Just today, Italy refused Brazil's demand to extradite a person named @edutagli, who was once a top aide to Moraes, but then fled to Italy after Moraes accused him of having been my source in a huge leak from Moraes' office that I obtained for reporting I did with @Folha in 2024. That massive leak enabled us to publish roughly 20 articles proving systemic abuses of power by Moraes against his political enemies: exactly the reason so many Brazilians, including Bolsonaro, know they can't get a fair trial in Brazil. Italy today refused to extradite the person accused of being our source on the grounds that the proceedings would be a farce because Moraes — as he so often does — wants to act as the supposed victim, investigator, and judge, and thus his demand falls well outside of Italy's extradition standards. Again, multiple countries have concluded the same, showing what a farce Brazil's once-respected judicial system has become under the Lula/Moraes regime. Moraes has overseen a system of political persecution masquerading as criminal justice that has been recognized as a sham by multiple countries that are not exactly Bolsonaro allies. Nobody in their right mind who is a political enemy of Moraes would remain in Brazil once if it is clear that he intends to imprison you, since he has proven that guilt is a foregone conclusion and he operates with no legal or constitutional limits of any kind. That is why asylum under international law exists: to protect those who cannot obtain justice in their own country because the justice system has been corrupted and commandeered for political persecution. Many people, such as Julian Assange, have needed that protection (which Lula cheered). Now people need it from Moraes in Brazil. That is sadly one of the main legacies of both Lula and Moraes over the last six years.

Hey did you know this guy owns and hangs out at Jeffrey Epstein's former ranch in New Mexico? I don't think that makes him guilty by association, but damn man that's still weird, if I owned that land I'd burn that shit to the ground sooner than sleep there.
The Lubbock crowd has been cheering for @DonHuffines but went pretty quiet when he gave them this reality check: "We're not doing good right now in the early vote. We're getting beat by the leftists. We're getting beat bad. You need to know that. You need to be scared." #txlege

"University researchers built a satellite that tracks people from low Earth orbit and dispatches a 5 kg payload to within .1 meter of their position, traveling at Mach 25 to anywhere on Earth in under 5 minutes. They suggest it could be used to deliver greeting cards."
Purdue University's IDEAS Lab built an autonomous drone that tracks runners through dense forests completely without GPS or cloud networks. By running 3D LiDAR mapping and obstacle-avoidance AI entirely on-chip, it can weave under tree canopies and predict target movement through blind spots in real time. Massive implications for next-gen search & rescue and edge AI.

Our power on every terrain (including electoral) comes from our ability to organize majorities into mass campaigns that win, not from statements. But when electeds are only organized to support our demands with the threat of unendorsement, we validate this negative approach
Nithya Raman sending that email does show that National DSA does have leverage over electeds and is an important step in asserting membership as the leading force behind ALL spheres of DSA strategy including the actions of our electeds. Even incomplete this was a positive step.

A lot of ppl on here have a two-dimensional concept of political leverage, based purely on negative pressure. Leverage also comes from joining a coalition, making your group indispensable, building trust & problem-solving together, while pushing firmly.

I do really think some folks don't see politics as something to engage in to distribute power to people but instead reassure themselves of their own moral supremacy. This is a bad way to engage in the world and sets you up to fail over and over again.

I think she will rep DSA well and it’s part of our job as the chapter to push her and organize her when she needs to be pushed and organized, but it gets a lot harder and worse when the NPC engages in an obviously factional witch hunt because they thing it’s a stepping stone
I'm skeptical of Raman's instincts around Palestine and I don't think she was good enough on it in 23-24 but I think that she's been unambiguously compliant with Resolution 22 since starting her mayoral campaign. She's a social democrat but a fairly good one.

it has clearly progressed to being retaliatory score-settling. we have tried to act in good faith with national and for our efforts we have gotten ratfucked from every angle so I think it would be crazy for the NPC to continue this shit
i have been a nithya skeptic for years. i do not think she should be a DSA candidate- she does not push the envelope for socialism. But she was endorsed by 2/3rds of her chapter, and she has now responded to DSA pressure and moved her position to be compliant with BDS.

hey could everyone just claim victory for moving nithya after her last statement and move on rather than kamikaze-ing national and LA’s relationship into the side of a mountain for no reason right before election day

The Democratic Party may be a slimy mess but I can’t imagine a world in which the national party would be moving, a week before the election, to overturn a local endorsement & potentially punish a chapter over something like this.
DSA's National Political Committee is planning to meet tonight to discuss whether to unendorse and/or expel Nithya Raman, a DSA member and Los Angeles mayoral candidate endorsed by the socialist org's Los Angeles chapter.

It’s actually insane to say in your IPO filing that if the law applies to you all of your prospective shareholders will suffer.

The most important risk factor for Anthropic is the rule of law actually being applied. "Any determination that we are liable under such theories, or any judicial or regulatory expansion of tort, product liability, or consumer protection law, or criminal liability, as applied to AI models, could result in significant liability and require us to change how we design and offer our models, platform, and applications."

The ICJ found Israel's occupation unlawful. It must end. Until then, under int'l law, Palestinians have the right to resist it through lawful means. Israel shall protect its youth by ending the colonial project that traps many of them in committing atrocity crimes.
A war is coming to the West Bank Yesterday Palestinian resistance fighters conducted a surgical strike against Israeli occupation soldiers, fully in accordance with international law. In response, Israeli government immediately announced that they will do war crimes and started doing war crimes. All the Palestinian villages in the West Bank are under siege, the city of Hebron is under siege. IDF is demolishing house after house, raiding family after family. They said they want to turn Hebron into Rafah. More than 250 families were kicked out into the streets with nothing. People slept on the street last night. The Israeli election is in 3 days, and the Netanyahu-Smotrich government is going to use this to start a war in the West Bank. The only way to stop this is pressure from all directions. We know it works. International pressure worked for the besieged house in Qusra, which still belongs to the Palestinians because of the all-around attention. It can work for Hebron too. But it will require EVERYONE reading this doing everything they can to stop this. Call your representative, hold a demonstration, organise direct action against the occupation’s assets abroad. Keep attention on the West Bank. ACT NOW.
