Have you noticed that this government are telling us to brace for decades of pain. To stock up for war. To get used to life being shit. It doesn’t have to be like this. What great leaders do, is inspire their people to be great. To succeed. They motivate businesses to win and individuals to strive to succeed. Great leaders create the environment where the country and its people believe they can have a better life and with that optimism comes success. This Labour Government destroys all hope, all aspiration and inspires misery. It doesn’t have to be like this.

I hope that it is now clear to left-voting publicans that a Labour Govt is not prioritising tax or any other relief for your pubs above benefit claimants, net zero, illegal migrants, Ukraine or other overseas causes….they are milking you for every penny to pay for that agenda.
🚨 NEW: John Healey has now confirmed that Labour will not cut the welfare bill before the next general election

Local piemaker explains how Burnham's first Budget will make things much worse: "I don’t qualify for the business rates relief because I’m multi-site… I’ve got two shops, so I don’t qualify. The minimum wage has increased. I’m not saying we shouldn’t pay staff. I’m saying we can’t afford to pay them… All my staff have been with us for years. So I’m going to have approximately a £700 a week increase. My suppliers are having an increase too. My supply bills are around £20,000 to £30,000 a week. That’ll go up 10%, so £2,000 to £3,000 a week. So that’s £4,000 a week I’ve got to find… That’s about 20,000 to 30,000 pies a week. So my costs have gone up. I’ve got no business rates relief. The National Insurance is crippling me. The energy crisis is crippling me. I’m going to have to put my prices up, Customers are going to get mad. I’m going to get less profit. As a family, as a director, I’ve got to take a 2% cut. So my family, my one-year-old girl. I’m taking a pay cut. The business is taking a pay cut. How is that breathing room for me? Where’s my breathing space? John Healey, if you’re listening, where’s my breathing space? You promised me. You promised the UK breathing space. Where is it?"

Campaign for Pubs obviously don’t like any criticism as they have blocked me 😎…..but I’ll still watch them continue to show “disappointment” again and again by the very politicians that they support….

I sincerely believe that raising the minimum wage again will just spur on inflation, and even more companies hiring overseas labour. Companies cannot afford the most basic and menial of jobs to command such a high price. I say that as someone who sets minimum wage far higher as company policy (aside from myself). Moreover, if any citizen can't live on ~£26.5k as minimum wage (at ~40 hours), and aren't disabled/incapable of working, they're doing something very very wrong – at least if outside of London. The state can't ask so much for so little, all it achieves is forcing up pricing for all goods and services. We need to shrink the state, not handicap the economy to try manage an ever-increasing welfare bill - increasingly made up of foreign economic migrants. We just keep increasing government spend as a percentage of GDP, with no real viable long-term solution proposed.
🚨 NEW: John Healey will increase the minimum wage for over 21s from £12.71 to around £13.20

Here we go again. Above inflation rise to the minimum wage which will cause even more pressure on businesses and feed into inflation. It will make life even less affordable for the lowest paid. Cue the usual "your business isn't viable if you cant afford to pay a living wage" posts from the terminally thick that would struggle to run a bath, never mind a business or employ people. Here, for anyone that can be bothered to educate themselves even in the slightest, is why the circa 50% rise in minimum wage in the last 6 years has made life less affordable and contributed to the cost of living crisis. Minimum wage employee 2020: Total cost to employer (wages + NI + pension): £18,460 Employee can make 18,460 widgets in a year. Cost per widget (ignoring any other cost or profit): £1 Take-home pay: £15,202 Widgets the employee can afford: 15,202 2027 min wage of of £13.20: Total cost to employer (wages + NI + pension): £29,436 Widgets made in a year (same productivity): 18,460 Cost per widget: £1.59 Take-home pay: £22,050 Widgets the employee can afford: 13,868 They’ve had a 45% increase in take-home pay but can afford 9% fewer widgets. This is why you are worse off. Now factor in other business costs, higher corporation tax, higher energy costs, higher risk from new legislation, maintaining pay differential, etc. etc. etc.. Yet the thick "yOuR bUsInEsS iSnT ViAbLe iF yOu cAnT aFfoRd AnOtHeR 50p" brigade are out in force championing this. Just increase the tax free allowance and reduce spending, for f***s sake. They are just driving businesses off a cliff in the UK.

The Campaign for Pubs and Woke Politics is disappointed that one of their favourite political parties, Labour, has not delivered anything substantive for pubs yet again 🤷🏻‍♂️….how can they afford to. when they have net zero, mass migration, welfare state, overseas aid, wars….?

This is gas we would buy from elsewhere and cause more environmental impact by transporting it here. It’s also going to make the country some money. In addition, to reject these benefits shows just how mad the environmental/net zero lobby is.
I can't begin to explain how angry this makes me. My son is 12 — he will live with the consequences. This is nothing more than an appeasement to Trump. Burnham has destroyed the government's commitment to tackling the climate disaster. 🤬

Sacha Lord clearlythinks that no-one in hospitality can see that his loyalty to Andy Burnham is more important than his supposed passion for hospitality.
I keep being asked if Hospitality is going to get a VAT reduction in the Budget. Whilst I absolutely think we should, I just honestly can't see it. The war in Iran has cost the UK billions. I do think we will get a reduction in the near future, but right now, the moneys not there. My guess is something to encourage employers to get NEETS into our sector...maybe around National Insurance.

Every single sentence in your post is untrue. Labour’s 2002 ‘deal’ had very little long-term impact on migrants trying to sneak into the UK by lorry/container/vehicles. It simply moved from Sangette to other routes. Between 2014-2019 55,000 came in that way — an underestimate since many came in undetected and disappeared into society. Unlike boat people, nearly all of whom are counted. So it’s an obvious nonsense to say people weren’t being sent back because nobody was arriving. Tens of thousands were arriving. They switched to small boats when major advances in technology, perimeter defence of lorry/container parks and detection made lorries etc too risky to take. That’s why, from 2018 onwards, the small boat numbers grew fast. Nothing to do with EU, Brexit, Dublin rules, fairy dust etc. Why do you peddle such falsehoods?
2002 deal Labour struck with 🇫🇷 helped tackle lorry migrants. But small boats rocketed post-Brexit: 299ppl 2018 to 45,774 in 2022. When in EU, Dublin Rg was a deterrent as ppl arriving illegally wld be returned, so v.few came. We didn't send them back because they weren't here

Build a business for 30 years. Hand it to your kids. Healey now wants 45%. Not 24%. 45%. A £1m family firm. £450,000 to the Treasury. Up from £240,000. For passing it to your own children. They'll call it closing a loophole. I call it Labour stealing your life’s work.

So I’ve sold my short-term holiday let. Business rate increase, capital gains changes, the introduction of the tourist tax,a Licensing regime from 2027, quarterly digital accounts, potential net zero upgrades, and whatever else they dream up. It’s too uncomfortable to keep going.

🚨 Labour came to power warning of a £22bn black hole. Since then they have: ❌ Put taxes up by around £70bn ❌ Borrowed another £310bn And now, after taking more of your money AND borrowing hundreds of billions more… …there is apparently another £35bn black hole. At what point do we admit the problem isn’t that Government doesn’t have enough money? It’s that Government cannot control its spending. You cannot tax your way to growth. You cannot borrow your way out of overspending. And taxpayers cannot keep being handed the bill. Enough.

It looks as if President Trump and President Putin might have averted an imminent worldwide diesel crisis with its resultant catastrophic effects on our economy and living standards. Russia are to release 300 000 tonnes of diesel immediately onto world markets with another 500 000 tonnes for November. All this from the country we have been firing our Storm-shadow missiles at from Ukraine for the last 3 years and our leaders tell us are about to invade us at any moment. Wake up people
BREAKING: Donald Trump has thanked Vladimir Putin for providing "the American and global marketplace" with '300,000 tons of diesel'. trib.al/Tb9Bevb

Completely ignores that the consumer cost of fuel is actually tax and he promotes a website so people can compare how much to pay for tax inflated fuel 🤦‍♂️….Burnham’s leadership is fucking embarrassing now and even dire hard Labour people must be cringing….
I know people are worried about fuel prices. And I get it. You get to the pump, watch the numbers climb, and wonder why it's costing so much more than it used to.   The reality is that global events are pushing up costs, and families here at home are feeling the impact.   But I won't accept that there's nothing I can do to help.   That's why from today, you'll be able to see petrol and diesel prices on Google Maps, compare nearby stations and find the cheapest option before you fill up.   It's a small change, but if there's a practical way to help people keep more money in their pocket, I'll do it.

EXCLUSIVE. Hampshires Police and Crime Commissioner just confirmed the Police response to the illegal migrant arrivals in Gosport, Portsmouth Harbour on Sunday cost over £200,000 to the taxpayer! That doesn’t include ambulance, local council clean up, coastguard, coach and travel costs. Disgusting. For 149 undocumented people. That’s before they get to their hotels with 3 meals a day Honestly what a joke

Here are two career politicians who have never built a business that had to survive on its own. Their entire adult lives have been spent inside politics - drawing salaries, climbing political ladders, and spending other people’s money - without ever running a business, making a payroll, or answering to a customer who could simply walk away.
