I'm not a party-over-everything person, and there are reasons to hesitate on El-Sayed that have nothing to do with his religion.
But this Haley Stevens thing is very clearly a personal beef at this point. What she objects to has been there for months; it's not new. Endorsing Rogers two days out seems like a temper tantrum more than a principled decision.
And don't blame this on her fiancé. She is a grown adult responsible for herself.

Whoever in Dem leadership really rallied people around Stevens instead of McMorrow would be unemployed yesterday if there was any sense there.
Just wild to throw away a left enough candidate without any history of nonsense for either a Stevens meltdown or the risk of AES

Ironically if El-Sayed loses it will now be much harder to blame his progressivism since people can just blame Haley Stevens instead. I'm not saying that's right, I'm not saying that's wrong, but that's how the intraparty D debate is likely to go.

The obvious story is Haley Stevens putting herself ahead of her party. But it’s another example of politicians using Black voters as props for faux moderation. Some, like Stevens, have so little respect for Black voters they think all it takes is showing up Sunday to tap dance with the pastor.

Stevens says she’s for investing in Black owned businesses. “And that’s the policy that Mike’s going to take on,” Stevens says.

She is clearly going to run as a Republican against el Sayed in 6 years and this is how she’s starting. All this over an ad that El Sayed isn’t apart of and which never ran on tv btw

She did just endorse formally at least.
I wish her well in her future endeavors and look forward to her getting zero Dem votes for a Trump Admin ambassadorship next year.

What a genius. I’m sure Hinson will be way more pro-LGBTQ than Turek! Dumbass.

WaPo: Democratic official says she won’t vote for Josh Turek over trans ad
The Democratic chairwoman of a rural Iowa county said Friday that she would not vote for her party’s Senate candidate, state Rep. Josh Turek, over his advertising on transgender issues.
Kathy Winter, chair of the Osceola County Democratic Party, said in a statement that Turek’s stance runs afoul of the Iowa Democratic Party’s platform, which opposes restrictions on transgender health care.

I’ve never been an AES fan but how do I look at something like this and conclude she would have been anything other than a Fetterman if she had won.

If you believe:
A: Haley Stevens has totally disgraced herself this election cycle.
B: She will no longer be considered a Democrat in good-standing considered the unbridled anger from every faction.
Then C follows logically: The Democratic Party prioritizes a big tent over petty factionalists like Haley Stevens. And it's important to not read her disgraceful behavior as indicative of any broader line of thinking inside the party.

The GOP literally did the EXACT same thing in the Alaska house race THIS YEAR. Waiting for your outrage on that one Guy.

This is who Mike Rogers is. He can’t be trusted anywhere near the US Senate.
Michiganders get out and vote for @AbdulElSayed!

She probably realized her career is over, so there's no point in faking it anymore.

I have been to so many cities in Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne county to try and find these mystical enthusiastic Mike Rogers supporters, and they’re nowhere to be found. Out of staters are being fed a false narrative about what is happening here in the metro Detroit area.
Least favorite part of this whole debacle is the cynical use of “black voters.” Disingenuous and exploitative. Going to be a long cycle

I think Haley Stevens has deluded herself into believing she’s some kind of beloved figure with a large following rather than someone a lot of partisan Dems rallied behind after McMorrow stumbled because they worried about potentially losing the seat.

If you’re going to defect like this, it’s weird to do it after about half the vote has already been cast. This episode seems to be all pique, quite embarrassing.

This is why there are such fat tails on the outcomes of this election in the Senate. There’s a pretty thin line in terms of the national generic ballot between the GOP having 53 Senate seats and them having as few as 45.

I’ve noticed that almost none of these accounts are willing to put their actual name behind what they are pushing. That says a lot.
