today 4 pm, india hub, devcon📍 MIBA: make india beautiful again 🤌🏽 with bittu tabahi at the helm 😎 a group conversation initiating collective action, not just another talk here are 3 Ps i like to play with: - pride in the place. shared care for a common space, not scolding. pride that encourages people to take action - patience with the process. not waiting. showing up repeatedly, learning which lever moved, changing gears when one stalls - posse of players. action crews to clean & beautify the neighborhood. many hands make light work, so it is playful & purposeful rather than painful also 3 questions i want to play with:
- how might we write open-source playbooks to clean and beautify india?
- how might decentralized crews work with centralized government agencies?
- how might we remind people that cleanliness unlocks prosperity for all? thought exercise: think of one spot that makes you wince as you pass by every day, that you'd take care of if you decided to. maybe you'll meet your crew here & kickstart your journey 🫵🏽 to make india beautiful again and ofc you'll meet the man of the moment (and movement) bittu tabahi
i'm in mumbai for @EFDevcon and so is the great Bittu Tabahi! join me, bittu, @walkingproject, @denverjude, and @reddy2go for "MIBA townhall: make india beautiful again" tomorrow at 4 PM 📍 india community hub. this has been a breakthrough year for citizen led action on fixing and beautifying public spaces. denver thought it was important to bring the community together at devcon to talk about it. come through, this is going to be a group conversation more than any of us giving a talk : P

gabbbar’s a perfect mix of sensible takes, storytelling, and controversial opinions :) no other person in my view has figured out social media as well as him.
You just need two skills to do well in this world. Maths & Articulation. Even one of the two skills is enough, but the killer combo is having both.

saying it again:
I genuinely have a question to all those who still call the city as Bombay and not Mumbai. It has been 30 years since the city is renamed as Mumbai. And still the non-native speakers insist on calling it Bombay. Some of the native speakers also go by the same name while speaking in Hindi or English. I see that in reels, filmy people conversations, college kids' conversations, and everywhere else too. I don't really have an issue with whatever you wanna call the city but the insistence of calling it Bombay is like disrespecting the local identity and language and feelings of the original inhabitants. And though Mumbai is a cosmopolitan city, it has its own language, culture, food, identify. The local flavour needs to be RESPECTED. And don't give me a political argument.... Some of you weren't even born when the politics around it happened. Apart from that, what is the reason?

only Punekars know how to do this
1 million years from now, the Somalian tectonic plate is going to collide with the Indian tectonic plate. That collision will create an equally high mountain range like the Himalaya on the western coast. Imagine being the first Somalian to trek up till Pune, only to see Hinjawadi metro still not inaugurated.

How long before Mahindra adapts this tech and a Gurgaon local will crash land his Thar-HAWKK into the 16th floor apartment of a girl who refused his offer for a drink at the bar?

3.5yo: “daddy, if travelling by car 🚗 is a roadtrip, then is travelling by flight ✈️ a skytrip?” 😅 kids are first principles thinkers!
asked my 3yo to tell a story and he goes, "daddy, ekda na ek tailor tail karat hota..." (once upon a time a tailor was 'tailing') 😅 love how children think from first principles!

what i love about @designerdada’s work is how practical it is. the mark of a good designer is knowing when not to overdesign.

everyone in my family had our names in two different constituencies because we permanently shifted/absent from previous constituency. the SIR deleted one set of names, rightly so. my late mother's name appeared in the voters list for last two general elections, despite us having filled the form to delete it. the SIR deleted her name finally. anyone showing only the numbers is either too dumb or has political motivations.
