MIBA: make india beautiful again 🤌🏽
with bittu tabahi at the helm 😎
a group conversation initiating collective action, not just another talk
here are 3 Ps i like to play with:
- pride in the place. shared care for a common space, not scolding. pride that encourages people to take action
- patience with the process. not waiting. showing up repeatedly, learning which lever moved, changing gears when one stalls
- posse of players. action crews to clean & beautify the neighborhood. many hands make light work, so it is playful & purposeful rather than painful
also 3 questions i want to play with:
- how might we write open-source playbooks to clean and beautify india?
- how might decentralized crews work with centralized government agencies?
- how might we remind people that cleanliness unlocks prosperity for all?
thought exercise: think of one spot that makes you wince as you pass by every day, that you'd take care of if you decided to. maybe you'll meet your crew here & kickstart your journey 🫵🏽 to make india beautiful again
and ofc you'll meet the man of the moment (and movement) bittu tabahi
i'm in mumbai for @EFDevcon and so is the great Bittu Tabahi!
join me, bittu, @walkingproject, @denverjude, and @reddy2go for "MIBA townhall: make india beautiful again" tomorrow at 4 PM 📍 india community hub.
this has been a breakthrough year for citizen led action on fixing and beautifying public spaces. denver thought it was important to bring the community together at devcon to talk about it.
come through, this is going to be a group conversation more than any of us giving a talk : P

(once upon a time a tailor was 'tailing') 😅

everyone has stories to tell or tales to present. i don't think such video generation needs to be limited to brand building and marketing avenues only
would love to encourage people to create videos showcasing hobbies/passions in a community show & tell sorta experience

Captain Smit Machchhar is a HERO.
In the face of the gravest danger and despite being seriously injured, he showed immense courage and an unwavering resolve to protect the lives of others.
His valour helped save hundreds of lives and avert a great tragedy.

All hijackers are stupid but the extra stupid ones try to hijack a plane full of 180 Israelis all of whom have gone through some of the best military training the world has to offer & an Indian pilot who thinks honor and karma are bigger than his own life. Get well soon Capt'n 🫡

If you have an idea for a product and your first instinct is a design doc - stop yourself.
Start with a 24 month cashflow model instead.
A product isn't an app, its an economic engine that happens to maybe use an app.
Design the economic engine first.
If you have an idea for a product, do not start with a design doc. Build a quick visual prototype and share it with the team and stakeholders instead.
I have been doing this a lot, and it is working out really, really well. A doc full of text requirements makes people imagine your vision inside their own head, and every person imagines something slightly different.
A prototype removes this delta entirely. People see the actual thing, and suddenly they are reacting to it instead of guessing at it.
By the way, this prototype is throwaway work with just frontend and mock data. No backend, APIs, or database.
Just dump your requirements into your favourite coding agent and let it spit out a prototype. Iterate on it, host it on Vercel or something, and share it with the team.
The feedback you get back is also just better. Practical, pragmatic. Everyone is literally on the same page.
Once you get the feedback, iterate on the prototype directly. Ship the change, repeat. The prototype becomes the living spec, and it stays far more convincing than any text ever could.
Hope this helps.

Everyone has feelings. How to express them is a result of social media, societal surroundings, family, and in some part schools and colleges. There needs to be dialogue between parents and children even in older ages about their views and opinions and try to shape them.
don't see anyone in the scene with the natural charisma to pull people out of their stupor and walk towards a greater goal mutually desired by all
it's all a game of manipulation via digital indoctrination to cater to conniving nefarious outcomes designed by few
the people won't win no matter what, they're getting played no matter who wins
just when the energy of collective growth & individual agency starts to shine, attention is diverted by rabid rage... where attention goes, energy flows 🌊
i choose to celebrate the ones who made it thru the quagmire of the centuries old systemic cesspool, instead of the ones who whine about the stench

play can rewire every aspect of your life ⏳all you gotta do is gtfo+play! 🥳
i read the entire thread :)
my takeaway is: focus on moving throughout the day. instead of planned hour of exercise, make exercise (play) part of everything (routine). it's a paradigm shift.
love this perspective! it will need a deliberate effort in the beginning till it becomes part of the daily routine but it's possible.

As someone who actively advocates gamification, I strongly support the way gamification can be used rather than how most systems end up implementing. Great read. The friction in learning is absolutely essential. Gamification should nudge the learner rather than becoming d reason
