.@the_andrey_x and I were charged with assault, along with five other offenses. After being kept up all night and interrogated for seven hours, we finally saw a judge. He watched the footage and concluded it was clearly a one-sided attack and that we were the victims. His response was to ban us from the West Bank for two months, let the police keep my phone, and bring no charges against the settlers he had just watched attack us.
Hi, I'm free.
Beat up but fine. Police stole my phone. Settlers punched me in the face several times, likely broke @AdeleShoko's wrist and gave @the_andrey_x a concussion. They threatened to shoot us with an assault rifle over and over.
Will tell the full story later, but for now, I just want to be clear about what happened. We witnessed two settlers locking a military gate in Umm al-Khair, blocking the only way to more than twenty Palestinian communities: trapping families inside, preventing students from reaching school and workers from their jobs, blocking delivery of food and access to ambulances, etc.
It's a crime that the military has this ability at all--but last night, we discovered that random settler terrorists also have the key. We confronted them and began asking questions on camera, and they nearly murdered us for it. When the police finally arrived, they arrested Andrey and me and charged us with assault.
The gate is still locked.
hockeytwt’s latest “trans ally” was just tweeting congratulations to a new provincial government whose leader voted for bills to advance a ban on gender-affirming care and the abolishment of my province’s human rights code. so forgive me if i don’t care about what he has to say.

My lord, thankful Riley Herbst got out of his car on his own.
That is terrifying

Dear god the person we should be really concerned about is Riley Herbst. That might be the hardest hit I’ve ever seen a cup car take.

RAISE HELLE!
Connor Hellebuyck is a New Jersey Devil: bit.ly/3VPXnGR
Loan Servicer: "Your monthly student loan payment is $520."
You: "Great. I’ve paid $520 every single month for 7 years straight. $43,680 total."
Loan Servicer: "Correct."
You: "So my initial $38,000 principal is paid off, right?"
Loan Servicer: "No, your balance is currently $41,500 due to accumulated interest and capitalization."
You: "I paid almost $44,000 on a $38,000 loan and I owe MORE than when I started?"
Loan Servicer: "You paid the interest required to keep your account current. The principal was never fully covered."
You: "Can I declare bankruptcy like a failed corporation?"
Loan Servicer: "No. Federal law makes student loans exceptionally difficult to discharge."
You didn't take out an education loan.
You signed a lifetime garnishment agreement designed to collect interest for years without making a meaningful dent in the balance.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
This appears AI-generated. Example implies ~16% rate, above typical federal student loan rates (~3-7%). Interest can cause balances to grow if payments don't cover it, via capitalization. Bankruptcy discharge requires undue hardship.

The commander of the Israeli military unit likely responsible for killing 5-year-old Hind Rajab is currently in the U.S.
As a party to the Genocide Convention and the Geneva Conventions, our government is obligated to arrest and investigate him for these war crimes and acts of genocide. I stand with @HindRFoundation in calling on the DOJ to follow the law and take action.
🇺🇸🚨 The #HindRajabFoundation has filed an urgent request with the U.S. Department of Justice, demanding the immediate investigation, arrest, and prosecution of Sean Glass, currently present in the United States. Glass commanded the Israeli unit implicated in Hind Rajab's murder. HRF's investigation places the 52nd Battalion—including Glass and his Vampire Empire Company—near her vehicle during the killing. Today, Glass walks free in the U.S.
