Long write up to compare CR7 and MJ and they find a way to bring in Messi. 😂😂😂
First, what I said: "what has CR7 done in his life (not sports career) that will resonate with ordinary, non-sports lovers 30 years from now? I can't think of anything. At all."
Second: the things that elevate someone from being massively popular to being a certain level of icon are well known to ordinary people, not just fans of a sport or venture. And that's the point. In 30 years, will these acts/achievements have been so influential that it will be common knowledge?
Example #2:
Dolly Parton vs Taylor Swift: We knew Dolly was an icon 20 years before she died this year because of her influence BEYOND just the music. Taylor is massively popular, but we dare not put her in the same iconic league as Dolly. Beyoncé, yes, because her cultural influence beyond music puts her in that league.
Example #3: Kanye West/Jay Z are bigger icons than Nas, Drake and Kendrick. Again, bigger cultural footprint.
Example #4: Michael Jordan's shoes were created in 1984. Today, in 2026, the kids of those who first wore them still wear Jordans. Add that to MJ's own sports popularity and we can say that he is probably a bigger icon than CR7, who has little in his cultural CV to rival that at the moment.
Put Jordan's shoes on a billboard anywhere in the world, it will be recognised. Put any of CR7's commercial properties (perfumes, boxers, Herbalife etc) in most corners of the world... you won't get same reaction.
Example #5:
CR7 himself is a faaaaaaaar bigger icon than Messi, who is a 🐐 football icon but has barely any cultural aura to transcend sports.
There are levels to what kind of icon people are. Just my 2-by-4 opinions though lol.
Regular Ghanaian ano yɛ ya fokn! 😂😂😂

I feel you. They get me too sometimes but let's try to ignore and block them. They're not about to use our anger to pay for their generator fuel.
Tsotsoo in the cuttttt😭😂😂😂😂😂
I mean when all you have to work with is a Blackstars that hasn't won anything in close to a decade and a non-existential league, how good will your judgement of the game be ?
Most Ghanaian sports journalists are quick to downplay Cristiano Ronaldo’s talent and achievements. I honestly wonder what criteria they use to measure greatness. Dribbling, passing, crossing, goals? Whatever the metric, CR7 ticks almost every box. He is arguably the most complete footballer ever. 🐐

We’re not saying government should fix all problems at once. That is a convenient strawman. We are saying that the government has the capacity to roll out initiatives in a more holistic manner, and we must hold them to that, not make excuses.

This has been my issue with some of the commentary I keep seeing.
“Oh the government can start from somewhere”.
Once we start behaving like the government can’t walk and chew gum at the same time, we are making excuses for them.

No.
The state can ensure order holistically.
It is a powerful entity.
It cannot choose to maintain order only when it generates massive revenue.
The kid who gets knocked down by a motorbike because there is no zebra crossing also deserves order.

🚨🗣️ 𝗡𝗘𝗪: José Mourinho reacts to Cristiano Ronaldo’s retirement from international football: 🇵🇹
“I don’t want to judge him. I think that instead of commenting, we should RESPECT HIS DECISION. And obviously, I respect it.
“THIS IS NOT RETIREMENT. He hasn’t ended his career.
“Those who know him understand that he STILL HAS GOALS he wants to achieve in his career.
“The only thing I would wish is that when he eventually retires from football completely, THAT DAY WILL BE DIFFERENT FROM YESTERDAY…”
RT @BlayAckah: The next Chief Justice must deal with the very basic problems that have turned justice administration into a joke.
Judges…

This is what happens when you have law enforcement unmoored from the law. In a serious country, the police would get their instructions from government lawyers, who, it would be hoped, know some law. In Ghana, the police are allowed to deal with citizens like it's the Wild West.
“If you call the Traffitech call centre after receiving a ticket to dispute the violation, and investigations establish that you indeed breached road traffic regulations, you will receive an additional fine.”
— Chief Inspector Frempong Ayeh cautions motorists against falsely disputing traffic violations, warning that an additional fine will be imposed if investigations confirm the offence.
Nowhere on Earth has speed enforcement tech been rolled out with this level of pure, unadulterated foolishness. Ghana remains, as ever, in a league of its own.
