Very proud of a friend who works at a college in a pretty woke part of England. The college previously said any student who identifies as โtransโ could use the toilets of their choice.
At a recent staff meeting, her department was told the college now has a policy that teachers must not agree to requests from students identifying as โtransโ to use a new name or pronouns that donโt match their sex. When some colleagues started complaining about โdeadnamingโ and all that tripe, she felt nervous but spoke up anyway.
She said she was pleased with the new policy, because affirming these changes can encourage young people down a harmful medical pathway. Most of the room glared at her, but one colleague came up afterwards to talk. Sometimes all it takes is one person willing to speak up to give others permission to start questioning and speaking too.
