i got nervous about all the info chatgpt and claude started to have on me but loved the user friendly AI apps. Enter usek.ai -- a no logging AI app that is using only open source no logging inference. It has been my daily driver and I couldn't be more excited
academic professors are not incentivized to make discoveries
they are incentivized to get grants approvaled
…so, does anyone else find it suspicious that frontier labs keep announcing blockbuster scientific results…
…but millions of scientists all over the world who have access to models that are as good - or almost as good - a greater individual incentive to publish, and collectively much greater domain-specific knowledge to prompt the models are not…
…something seems off

I need to say something that I wish more MD's said.
Cold and flu season is NOT actually "a season".
It's Halloween candy followed by Thanksgiving pie, followed by Christmas cookies, followed by New Year's drinks, followed by Valentine's Day chocolate.
Four straight months of sugar, processed foods, stress, and disrupted sleep.
And then we act surprised when everyone gets sick.

I wish I could say we planned it this way. The truth is we became a data company:
More members → more bills
More bills → more cash-pay prices
More cash-pay prices → better low-cost, high-quality options
Better options → lower costs
Lower costs → lower prices
Lower prices → more members
…and the flywheel spins again.

I think it’s the Bovine lactoferrin in raw milk that’s partially destroyed in pasteurization. You can get lactoferrin higher in colostrum. Big raw milk fan here, too. Wild what they took from us.

Raw milk affects the gut microbiome and gives good secondary bile acid metabolic performers which subsequently balance one’s 5 alpha and 5 beta reductase pathways shutting off the over conversion of testosterone into DHT: the androgenic pattern hair loss enhancer.
Apart from having all 20 amino acids the good cholesterol helps hormonal balance in the body.
Raw milk preserves the essential 9 amino acids which are otherwise denaturalized by pasteurization

Homogenization cuts the fat globules from their natural size to too small of a size which begs the question in understanding the physiological basis of small dense LDL impacting acceleration of atherosclerosis.
Raw milk should be the Universal Milk source to reach out to and yet it is being banned!

I'm a big fan of raw milk. Once you start drinking it, you cannot go back to the homogenized/pasteurized stuff, because it tastes like milk-flavored water.
What I had not expected was the dramatic effect on hair growth. After 4 months of regular drinking of raw milk, I have more hair on my head than I had in my 20s. It's long and thick and growing in places where I was balding. Eyebrows are growing fast. Fingernails are growing much faster. Everything has changed.
No established science confirms this. Doesn't mean that it is not true.

all software will soon be open source or at the very least a replica of the software will be whether the company likes it or not.
this reminds me of the glory days of file sharing.
a great education should command a good price but most certificates of completion from a university don't translate into an equally excellent paycheck or education
My son got a 3.9 GPA, scored 1380 on the SAT, and got into his dream state university.
The total cost? $128,000 for 4 years.
The school proudly offered him a $16,000 merit scholarship.
So after doing everything right in high school, we’re still looking at $112,000 out of pocket.
They call it financial aid.
I call it a 4 year head start on debt.
When did getting a college degree become a luxury?
land and location is limited and will always command a premium. great homes in great locations should go up over time but your savings should also go up over time as well so buying the house is not painful but is a win win for both sides of the trade.
if your money goes up and the house also goes up the final sale is a transfer of purchasing power from buyer to seller.
It is insane that home values go up over time.
The home should be most expensive when it is initially built. At that point, the structure is new and unused.
As the home experiences wear and tear, the home becomes used and should be worth less money over time.
A used home should cost less than a new home.
But that is not what happens.
Home prices continue to grow to the sky because the debasement of the dollar distorts the market, which enriches the home owners at the expense of the home buyer.
This is a silent wealth transfer that requires the home buyer to pay more for a less valuable product.
Just insane.

Join all the declarative fun here: github.com/bitcoinix/bitcoin…
Next time, a professional or organization sends you their membership dues, ask yourself before you renew, "did this group which is asking for a decent amount of money provide me with that amount of value in return?" or did i just join because everyone else joined?

Advice to young people:
Don’t ever get an MBA
For a while now, it’s been one of the most useless degrees in the history of degrees
You spend hundreds of thousands to golf and drink
And you will get laughed out of the room coming into a job thinking you know anything
Don’t do it
