cooking with gasā¢
I think in 10 or 20 years the kitchen and living room combo layout will have disappeared from most homes
Cooking is the primary source of indoor air pollution and you're essentially releasing microscopic toxic gases into your living room and the rest of your house
On top of that 99% of kitchen vents don't do anything
That is, unless we invent some better air cleaning system for kitchens that actually work
ZIRP caused generational levels of capital misallocation.
It went into static unproductive assets like property and not wealth creating businesses.
And guess what? China's fertility rate is 1.
Population collapse from toxic work culture.
Revolut founder Nik Storonsky says working weekends is essential to survive, calling it "purely statistical"
"So China is 996. And then even if you are good in Europe or even if you are good in US, how can you outcompete people who work nine to nine, 6 days a week?"
"When I started in the startup space, there were 140 companies. Within five years, only three companies survived. They all worked on weekends."
"Within 10 years, only 2 companies survived out of 140. So I think work on weekends is a must if you want to survive. Purely statistical."
"Out of all European companies, we're probably one of the hardest working, and I think we're also one of the hardest working companies if you include US as well."

Lubna Speitan, author of the Greens4Palestine motion āZionism is racismā, spells out the central obscenity of our age ā the grotesque inversion whereby the victims of ethnic cleansing, Apartheid and genocide must constantly fend off accusations from their tormentors that it is they who are the racists.
āWe as Palestinians are being silenced and gaslit and vilified [as we] witness the annihilation, the cold-blooded murder of our families, of our people⦠our children burnt with phosphorus, having to endure amputations with no anaesthetic, having their limbs torn and shredded, their bodies burnt by phosphorus, being starved to death ⦠And to have to sit here ⦠and try to bury my feelings so I can eloquently and diplomatically shield my anger, my rage, my anguish that every Palestinian is feeling, is an insult.ā /1

I guess BBC impartiality only matters when you're a match of the day presenter who says bombing children is bad

Brilliant article, very well articulated!
Back in 1990, when my wife and I were buying our first flat in London, I was writing advertising copy for a little-known American software company. The people seemed remarkably impressive and I considered buying shares in them.
A banker friend advised caution, however, arguing that overseas stock exposed you to exchange rate fluctuations.
The company was called Microsoft. Had I put the £68,000 I used to buy that flat into Microsoft stock, it would now be worth £54 million.
Naturally, every time I meet my friend, I thank him for his helpful advice. But in truth my jibe is unfair.

I went to go see a new build development a few weeks back- bit unfair to call it that, though, as thereās been a massive amount of (what I suppose is) landscaping and care ploughed into it.
This was one of the cheaper homes*, and the street it sat in.
We can genuinely just do things like this. It just takes care.
Iām going back in a week or two to meet the development team. Iāll report (somewhere) on why and how you can do high quality housing without needing to charge the earth.
*costs c10% less than a similar Taylor Wimpey home in a development 15 miles away.
Electrification of transport is the answer to reduced exposure to fuel prices. But this government is:
1) considering dropping the zev mandate
2) introducing ev costs per mile
3) killing Chinese ev imports
I know people are worried about fuel prices. And I get it. You get to the pump, watch the numbers climb, and wonder why it's costing so much more than it used to.
Ā
The reality is that global events are pushing up costs, and families here at home are feeling the impact.
Ā
But I won't accept that there's nothing I can do to help.
Ā
That's why from today, you'll be able to see petrol and diesel prices on Google Maps, compare nearby stations and find the cheapest option before you fill up.
Ā
It's a small change, but if there's a practical way to help people keep more money in their pocket, I'll do it.

The SOUND and FURY of the British Establishment when the Greens correctly identify that Zionism is racism, compared to the SILENCE and DENIAL of the British Establishment relating to the apartheid, ethnic cleansing & GENOCIDE by Israel of Palestinians is a shameful abomination
As all the pearl clutching in the western media erupts over a motion passed at a party conference, zionism continues unabated.

This underlines the madness of British political discourse.
The Israeli state is boasting about the ethnic cleansing of southern Lebanon.
But the outrage here is all about the Green Party passing a motion describing Israel's official ideology as racism.

Burnhamās Labour still show more condemnation for the Greens motion on Zionism than they do for Israelās war crimes.

Can everyone see now just how normalised anti-Palestinian racism is when barely any Palestinians have been invited for interview to give their take on the Green Party 'Zionism is Racism' motion.
Not one journalist at the Guardian, Telegraph, BBC, Independent, Sky News, ITV, or even Channel 4 thought to themselves 'hmmm maybe we should ask the victims of Zionism how they think and feel about it.'
August 2026 vs August 2025 (YoY).
Same pattern as July: the higher the average price in an area, the larger the YoY fall.
The cheapest areas in the north are still rising. London is falling the most, with the areas down around 15%.
Only one in five areas is up YoY
