Senator Collins, I think you are a little out of touch. This is about a cord of wood — and about Mainers struggling to afford to heat their homes this winter.
I know what it’s like to run out of fuel. I’ve lived that struggle.
That’s the experience I’ll take to the U.S. Senate. And I’ll use it to fight for working people.

Innovations in question dodging: I couldn't possibly comment on the Iran War because I am not physically located in Iran at the moment...or something?
U.S. House candidate @MainePaulLePage (R-ME) on whether he approves of handling of Iran war: "I don't know, I mean I'm here, not there. So I can't really answer that."

WHO ARE THE 1%? AND HOW SHOULD WE TAX THEM?
@omzidar is a professor of Economics and Public Affairs at Princeton and the author of "The Everywhere Millionaire: Who Is Really Rich in America and How They Got There."
He found the secret subset of wealthy Americans that no one was talking about — people like the regional car dealer who spent $60 million on his daughter's wedding.
Owen sat down with @EKraschel to talk about these multimillionaires, and how we can reform the tax code to make sure they pay their fair share.

The only moderate Republican in the senate is Lisa Murkowski and I won’t be hearing the case for any other senator

Dynamic duo of @EKraschel and @AshleySchapitl making the case for stronger IRS tax enforcement funding today — to make sure the wealthiest pay what they owe, and so Americans know that everyone is paying their fair share.
Like many in tax world, I’ve been dismayed at how bipartisan the tax revolt has become. Exempting more people and income from taxes. How do we combat these bad ideas? Fund the tax police again to restore credibility. My guest piece for @SearchlightInst. open.substack.com/pub/search…

Taxes are not punishment. Nor are they a cure all for every new policy problem our leaders encounter. They are a tool to finance a fair, prosperous, and generous society.
It's time to get back to basics. My very smart colleague @EKraschel lays out the path forward.

To counter the bipartisan tax revolt, start by funding the tax police, @AshleySchapitl says:
I saw what the IRS could do when it had the resources to do its job and change the incentives for tax avoidance at the very top of society.
We pursued high-income non-filers, audited corporate jets, and unwound byzantine partnership structures.
Unfortunately, Trump and his GOP majority defunded our nation’s tax police, and much of this work was reversed.
But this experience gave me a window into what America would look like if we had the sort of trust in our tax system that many Scandinavian countries have — when the public knows that everyone, including the ultra-wealthy, is paying their fair share.

Public trust in our tax system has eroded — but to fund priorities like universal health care, we’ll need to restore that trust.
Let's start by fixing what's already wrong with the tax code. Here’s how.
Are we even asking the most important question: Does Abdul actually want Haley’s support in the first place?
Sorry Lis, that's BS. You know full well that it is absurd to say Haley Stevens refusing to publicly and fully back @AbdulElSayed by name on live national television less than 10 days from election day has anything to do with "candidate quality." His critics have made it very clear it's about his anti-Israel views.
And if it was about his "candidate quality," then why is @BarackObama campaigning for him and praising him? Why is your former client @MalloryMcMorrow (and I am glad she is!)?
