The great thing about this app, is it has a first class MCP interface and I can use ChatGPT to generate objects, 2d layouts, various edits, and more. For this clock, I told ChatGPT to adjust the tick marks to go all that way to the edge like the inspo. Now it looks much better! And the app keeps a living notes doc of major design decisions, preferences, and constraints that can easily be viewed and edited. So regressions should be less likely long term and personal styles can easily be inferred.
Just about functional enough that I can work on the actual UI. Here's a split 2D / 3D view and 3D print preview of a test from today.

Making some progress on a native Mac hybrid 2d/3d design tool I've been building. So far it has - parametric CAD - 2D design environment including type, vectors, layers - linked 2D artboards to 3D surfaces - automated asset rendering - 3d printer slicing / printer control - controllable via MCP

Today's beetle task for Codex was evaluating a few custom headlamp directions.

Here's a little more of the watch/gauge editor. It's fully 3D, there's a huge set of parametric model options, and the instruments function / playback movements in the canvas. It's fun blending the design environment, rendering canvas, and agentic workflows into one complete tool.

There's also a watch / gauge design app I've been working on. Next step is integrating the design tool with the watch build. And then adding in an ai-image rendering step for realistic assets.

I had Codex make a complete wristwatch assembly in CAD yesterday. It made one design based on a traditional Swiss movement and another that's a hybrid with digital movement modules and PCB. As part of the hybrid watch exploration, Codex also worked on v1 of a full PCB design. I also had it make a simplified model that I could print to see size and shape. Not bad for a day of background usage...

I’m working through ideas for a custom set of emblems to go on my project Beetle. This is the first one I liked enough to print and finish. Crazy how quickly I could go from sketch to printed object! I used @ChatGPT to go from initial concept, 3D sculpt, and renderings. Then printed on a @BambulabGlobal P1S followed by primer, sanding, chrome paint.
