Far-right Japanese accounts defending this is so ironic. One Piece has spent decades criticizing authoritarianism, corruption, oppression, exploitation, discrimination, and people abusing their power. These themes are literally woven into the story. Yet somehow, some of the same people who claim to love this series are comfortable defending the very kind of politics that contradicts its core messages. 🥴
Sheltered her daughter from politics so that she could have a "normal childhood" only for it to result in her being exposed to the predatory nature of conservatism.
