Soil is expensive. When building new raised beds, place logs at the bottom to save money and improve water retention. It’s called β€œhugelkultur”. The logs act like water sponges ("water battery") during dry spells and they improve drainage.

Steal your neighbor’s unwanted leaves this fall. Fallen leaves can be used to build and improve soil. Shred them and make your own mulch or add them directly to your compost bin.

Don’t actually steal them. Ask first. People are usually happy to give them to me. It’s a win-win.

Oven stopped working today. Learned how to repair it by watching 3 minute YouTube video on my iPhone. Ordered new replacement igniter on Amazon. Part arrived today. On the same day that I ordered it, with free shipping, on a Sunday. Fixed appliance myself. Only spent $27.75 in total. Try doing that under socialism. Capitalism works!! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Use free leaves to fix soil structure. In heavy clay soils, decaying leaves increase porosity to improve drainage and aeration. In sandy soils, they increase water- and nutrient-holding capacity.

Use free leaves to add organic matter. As leaves decompose, they feed beneficial microbes, fungi, and earthworms that transform dead material into rich humus.

Been on vacation all week. Just came home to all this good food growing. What’s your excuse?

I’m just a regular dad trying to prove you don’t need a farm to grow your family’s food.

I’m back home again in Indiana! I really enjoyed spending time in Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, and Florida. You people are my people. Greatest people in America (second only to the Midwest)!

I love America because if you have a car, you can go anywhere. I’m in Gulf Shores Alabama right now. Taking my youngest daughter to the beach for the first time. Just saw a bald eagle in the wild πŸ¦… πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Good morning from the beach! Trying to add some positivity and beauty to this website. Posting on X is valuable to those that use it. So for that reason, it’s worth it.

Walked out to the backyard coop and came back with breakfast. You can’t imagine how much money these corporations are making off your laziness.

My daughter’s rabbit was left unsupervised in the same room as my microgreens. I have evidence from the crime scene.

Just a normal day in my city backyard. Don’t let anyone stop you from growing your own food.
