Claude Opus 5.5: "If these hold up, this is the biggest single day in the history of math and theoretical computer science." 1) Exponential Time Hypothesis is false (CS). This is roughly Turing Award territory. ETH was the working assumption that some hard problems simply can’t be solved much faster than brute force, and hundreds of computer science papers rest on it. For a normal audience: it’s not “P=NP.” Hard problems are still hard, and your bank encryption isn’t suddenly broken. But a pillar that a whole field assumed was solid turned out to be hollow. The flagship experts are taking it seriously. The people checking it include two of the people who proposed ETH, and they said “If the claim is correct, it will change” computer science. 2) Kakeya and restriction in all dimensions (math). This is Fields Medal-level. For scale, the 3D case alone was proved in 2025 and was hailed as a once-in-a-century proof. This result does every dimension and knocks out Stein’s restriction conjecture too. 3) Yang–Mills/QCD existence (physics). Potentially the biggest of the three, but here’s the precise framing. It proves pure Yang–Mills exists, which is part of one of the Clay Mathematics Institute’s Millennium Prize problems. The full Clay problem also requires the “mass gap,” so it’s not a clean “AI wins $1M” headline. Still, a rigorous proof that the theory of quarks and gluons is mathematically real has been an open dream for about 50 years. The review panel includes Nobel laureate David Gross and Arthur Jaffe, who literally wrote the Millennium problem. There’s no Nobel for math, but this is the stuff physicists win them for building on.

Many of you don't understand how serious this is, so let me break it down. In computer science there is a famous kind of puzzle called 3-SAT. You are given a long list of yes-or-no switches and a set of rules about how they must be arranged, and you have to find a combination that satisfies every rule. The obvious way to solve it is to try every combination, but each new switch doubles the number of possibilities, so a puzzle with a few hundred switches would take longer than the age of the universe to brute force. For decades, the smartest people in the field found clever tricks that made this a little faster, but every trick still hit the same wall: the time required kept exploding as the puzzle grew. About 25 years ago, two computer scientists, Russell Impagliazzo and Ramamohan Paturi, working with Francis Zane, turned that wall into a formal idea. They proposed the Exponential Time Hypothesis, which says this explosion is not a failure of human cleverness but a law of nature. No algorithm, however brilliant, will ever solve 3-SAT without the time blowing up exponentially. Nobody could prove it, but almost everyone believed it, and it became one of the foundations of modern computer science. Researchers used it as a measuring stick. If you could show that solving some other problem quickly would also crack 3-SAT quickly, you had shown that problem was hopelessly hard too. Hundreds of papers, across scheduling, graphs, logic and much more, rest on this one assumption. Now an internal AI model at OpenAI claims to have broken it. It says it found an algorithm that solves these puzzles meaningfully faster than the hypothesis allows, and it has checked the proof in a computer verification system called Lean. And here is the remarkable part: the very people who proposed the hypothesis, Impagliazzo and Paturi, along with MIT's Ryan Williams, are now leading the public review of whether a machine has disproved their own idea. So what happens next? If the disproof holds, a large part of theoretical computer science has to be revisited. Every result that said "this problem cannot be solved faster, assuming ETH" loses its foundation, and researchers will have to work out which of those walls were real and which were simply where we stopped looking. It does not mean everything becomes easy. The new algorithm is still slow in absolute terms and this is not the famous P versus NP problem being solved. But it means our map of what is possible was wrong in a place we were very confident about, and it was an AI that redrew it. If the disproof fails, the hypothesis survives and the field breathes out, but we will still have watched an AI produce serious, checkable work on one of the deepest questions in the discipline, closely enough that the founders of the idea had to take it seriously. Either way, something has shifted.

OpenAI has released GPT-6.1 Terra, pushing the cost efficiency frontier. It is the first Terra-class model since GPT-5.6, and is more intelligent for less than a third of the cost Pricing per token is half or less that of GPT-5.6 Terra - at $1/$5 per million input/output tokens vs $2/$12 for the previous model. Cache write has also halved, now at $1.25 per million tokens. Cached input is one quarter at $0.05 vs $0.20 per million tokens. Key takeaways: ➤ Pareto-optimal for Intelligence vs Cost at low and medium effort: At max effort, GPT-6.1 Terra gains 6 points in the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index over GPT-5.6 Terra, at less than a third of the cost per task ($0.40 vs $1.40). At lower effort levels the gain is larger, between 7 and 13 points. The low and medium effort levels are Pareto-optimal for cost efficiency, while the other effort levels sit behind the frontier. At max effort, the model scores 4 points below GPT-6.1 Sol and 10 points above GPT-6 Luna in the Intelligence Index. ➤ Pushes the Coding Agent Index cost efficiency frontier: With a score of 48 in the newly released Artificial Analysis Coding Agent Index v2.0, the model is 6 points below GPT-6.1 Sol (54) and 17 points above GPT-6 Luna (31). The xhigh and low effort settings sit on the frontier of cost efficiency in the Coding Agent Index, while other effort levels are behind the frontier. ➤ 50 point drop in hallucination rate: GPT-6.1 Terra guesses 38% of the time when it does not know the answer to a question in AA-Omniscience, our private knowledge and hallucination benchmark. Previously, GPT-5.6 Terra's hallucination rate was 88%. This significant reduction in hallucination is coupled with a 2 point increase in AA-Omniscience accuracy - meaning the model simultaneously answers more questions correctly. ➤ 20 point jump in Terminal-Bench 4.0, small improvements across most evaluations: The model makes significant progress in the terminal-based agentic benchmark, Terminal-Bench 4.0, with a gain of ~20 points, now rivaling GPT-6.1 Sol at max effort. Gains across most other evaluations are smaller, for example, 5 points in GDP.pdf. Congratulations @OpenAI and @sama on the launch!

🔥 RTX 30 系列(Ampere) github.com/Zagitta/gpu-unloc… 🔥 RTX 40 系列(Ada) github.com/JustAResearcher/g… 🔥 Windows 11 实验方案(改装版 RTX 4080) huggingface.co/TOTORONG/AD10…

Ok, I just checked this, and its literally running a freaking TensorFlow Lite model on 960×540 images with INT8 quantization every couple of seconds in an attempt to figure out what game you are playing. It's literally called "alex.tflite" and its literally AlexNet and seems to follow torchvision.models.alexnet. As far as I can tell this does some strange nearest neighbor feature comparisons against a DB and literally doesn't work 99% of the time, you love to see your CPU get wasted every other second by this thing though. It also just seems to dump its results into the void because the consent gate comes later. Anyways, here's the tf model graph and some dumped captures.
