We've got two hospitals in London moving their ICU services outside! That's right - London, England. We also review a sensor called the MiEye. @circadian247

You thought that Sunlight was just for vitamin D. You are wondering, "what's all the fuss about sunlight?" Here's a video where I step you through the data, and why you'll never see the sun the same again...

People are now starting to understand that LED bulbs have been designed to be as energy efficient as possible. And so they eliminated the infrared portion, which is invisible, and this makes sense from a purely economic viewpoint if the purpose of the bulb is simply to allow you to see. However, people live in these environments for more than 90% of their lives, and what has happened is almost complete elimination of the beneficial but invisible longer wavelengths. However, what many people still do not understand is that at least in the United States, and in 2028, the regulations that govern light bulbs are going to become even more egregious unless something is done. This means that you will not be able to purchase bulbs which add back in the infrared component. Here is a video that we have published that lays it out. youtu.be/0m1Qekrfs7w?si=SrEj…

It’s a brilliant paper and great to see @newscientist covering it. I spoke with the authors of the paper on the Sunlight Matters podcast - podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcas…

The broad shift in recognition about light & health (not just circadian) is starting… @RogerSeheult Glen Jeffery & others (!) deserve credit for pushing the message w/grace & tenacity (turns out that to effect broad change, you need both). Still a ways to go but it’s starting.
Science is waking up to the fact that we collectively made decisions on things from an economic standpoint and forgot to check the health concerns. Health > Wealth

A 99% eclipse is not 99% as cool as a total eclipse. It’s like, .01% as cool. If you’re close to the path of totality but not quite there, find a way. It’s worth it.
Friendly reminder that the difference between a partial eclipse and a total eclipse is literally life changing. It’s hard to tell a partial eclipse is happening at all (visible in shadows or with solar glasses) A total eclipse is a life-altering experience.

My awareness about the health benefits of sunlight was mostly based on intuition – and that’s still my main driver. But due to research by Dr. Seheult et al., I’m also more convinced now.
It’s been almost 3 years since I posted this. I’m more convinced now:

Thank you, @joerogan for making the conversation fun, smart, and edgy. I had a great time, got to lay out some important info, and learned more than I ever expected about how to turn yourself blue. Extra kudos for the on-point comedy set hours later. Don't know how you do it. @ScribnerBooks youtube.com/watch?v=J-CQjxKF…

Can Light Exposure Shape Brain Development in Early Infancy? 🧠☀️ A beautiful paper in Cell answers that exact question. The relevance here is that the light your newborn child is exposed to may directly affect brain wiring AND long-term cognition. 🧵

Bernard Ackerman, the best known dermatologist in the world at the time, argued that: 1) the melanoma epidemic was being driven largely by overdiagnosis 2) the evidence that sunscreen prevents melanoma was weak This was a man known as a founding figure in the field of dermatopathology, and yet he described much of the field’s thinking on melanoma as “replete with nonsense” As @rowanjacobsen put it, “it’s one thing when an outsider says your science sucks; it's another when it comes from the guy who literally wrote your textbooks. The industry's response was to pretend it wasn't happening. His tributes tended to skirt the issue entirely, focusing on his powerful intellect, teaching prowess, and lifelong generosity” If Bernard Ackerman were still alive and I laid out the circadian perspective for him, I bet he would be even more militant in his opposition towards large parts of his own field
Finished this in a day It’s a fantastic introductory book on the nuances involved with sunlight, based on newer research Very happy to see @MaxGulhaneMD and @RogerSeheult mentioned towards the end. Well done @rowanjacobsen
