Anything you do that contributes to a finished manuscript counts as writing. Editing Revising Designing staring out the window imagining scenes talking to other writers about it querying studying craft marketing Writing is so much more than throwing words at the page.
Do editing days count as writing days?

ALL ABOARD FOR KINDNESS! This is my 5th year spreading bookmark joy, and every year I’m reminded that something as simple as a bookmark can make someone smile and feel special. I’m inviting classrooms, libraries, authors, and readers of all ages to craft bookmarks with me this @GivingTuesday season. 👉 forms.gle/dDDKXUsV6iqWQMrb8 You can share bookmarks with friends, classmates, neighbors, and family. You can also send them to me, and I’ll deliver them to patients at Shriners Children’s Hospital on December 1st. #Teachers, this is a great classroom activity that fosters creativity, generosity, and positivity! And, once again, I’m collecting new books to give to young patients at Shriners Children’s Hospital in honor of @GivingTuesday - So please feel free to donate a book to my nonprofit before December 1st. ❤️📚 Five years of spreading kindness, one bookmark…and one story at a time. ❤️ Want to get involved? Sign up here 👉 forms.gle/dDDKXUsV6iqWQMrb8 Everyone is welcome, and every bookmark matters! #givingtuesday #kindnessbookmarks #etraintalks #givingtuesdayspark

I want a book deal, like, YESTERDAY! Okay, not that's out of my system, back to writing the next book. Have a good weekend, y'all.

I love meeting and talking with local Sacramento authors which is why I was very happy to run into the wonderful children’s author @KimberlyBiddle4 at the 2026 Cabrillo Park Neighborhood Association Literacy Festival! I sat down with Kimberly for a quick Q&A about her newest picture book AS YOU ARE: A HOPE FOR BLACK SONS. Watch my short, but very sweet chat with Kimberly and be sure to check out her heartwarming stories. youtube.com/shorts/vmIEoyyME… @diversebooks #AuthorsOfX #kidlit #booktok #Sacramento

Every writer needs watch this! Even if you never plan on traditionally publishing, you should know how the industry works. Thanks @vickyweberbooks for sharing the knowledge!
Ever wonder what goes into a literary agent’s wishlist? From favourite genres to specific tropes and the stories they’re hoping to find, here’s what agents are really looking for!

I've said this so often. Maybe, as it's coming from one of the best agents in the biz, people will listen.
By the time you write to trend, the trend will have passed anyway. Write what you want to write.

Does a drop of water raise the level of the sea?Scientifically? Yes. In practicality? No. Writing ability improves by writing. Musical ability improves by playing music. How do you get to play at Carnegie Hall? The Olympics? On best seller lists? Practice. Practice. Practice.
Does reading a lot naturally improve writing ability ??

So basic. So simple. So true.
I have THE secret to publishing AND parenting 🙃😂

Above all else, I want readers to enjoy my stories. Escapism isn't a bad thing. Not every book needs to be Paradise Lost or a Dostoevskian philosophical exploration. Sometimes, people simply need a soft pillow to rest on.
What do you want readers to learn from your books?

I completely agree with this. Children are NOT adults in miniature and should not be treated as such.
I finished To Kill A Mockingbird last night. It’s not the first time I’ve read it, but I noticed a few things I hadn’t noticed before. The very clear distinction between adults and children and the assumption that children should obey adults, whether they like or respect them, is a theme that is woven throughout. I also noticed how Atticus was very careful to protect the innocence of his children while also respecting their intelligence and maturity. He knew when and how much information to share with them and when to tell them to leave the room. So much has changed for the better since that time, but the blurring of lines between adults and children has not been a positive thing. Children need discipline, guidance, and authority figures (even if they’re imperfect) who will hold them accountable and keep them on the right path. They also need adults to protect them from harm, self-inflicted or otherwise. There are far too many children today growing up without adults like this in their lives.

OK. I surrender. I have seen dozens of Malfoid posts today. I Googled and got the gist, but will some kind soul spell it out for me and point me to the real source material.

A large number of my readers are teen girls. They may not be in the majority, but I do sense a growing attitude of, "There's more to us girls than relationship drama. We want to have adventures too!"
I am in a Christian Book Recommendation group on Facebook. Nearly every post is for books for a teenage girl...no romance. "She won't read any romance." What in the world has happened to humanity that teenage girls no longer want romance...in Christian families?

I pray the Rosary every morning. I don't know the Mysteries for any given day. My mind wanders and sometimes I forget to move on to the next bead. Often I start out saying the Our Father, end with the Hail Mary, and have no idea what happened in between. I don't think God minds.
I bought a rosary. I also have no idea what I'm doing.

Transformation of art, and you're right in that's how culture develops and expands, is not spurred on by recycling as FanFic. Transformation of art is consuming current art and then taking it to the next level as NEW and ORIGINAL expression. lnkd.in/p/gAghMAHP
It's not a problem to change it or the nature of it. Transformation of art is how culture develops and expands. Whether it's better or not depends entirely on the metric.

It has begun! Or gotten worse - whichever! My "For You" feed is filling up with campaign ads. 1) Social Media has zero impact on how I vote. 2) Political stuff on my feed gets blocked 99% of the time. Let the Games begin!
