You're not supposed to afford it. It's an entire industry designed to vacuum up every last dime of boomer wealth before they slip their mortal coils. For thousands of years, you were supposed to die at home surrounded by your loved ones. Instead the boomers destroyed a high trust society to maximize a number on a graph making it somehow make sense to liquidate your estate so a Haitian care worker can feed you seed oil slop and then smother you in your sleep after your retirement balance hits $0.
I genuinely don’t understand how ordinary people are supposed to afford assisted living for their aging parents. Some facilities charge upwards of $10,000 A MONTH. That’s $120,000 a year just to make sure your parents are properly cared for. How is the average family supposed to afford that?

yeah most of the digital tools are linear. the fatness you’re describing is called a nonlinearity. analog gear imparts insane amounts of these nonlinearities.
Music used to sound "fatter" if that makes sense

Replying to @fw_andyyy
20 year HR professional here. Many times I’d make candidates wait a few extra minutes to see how they handled it when they got frustrated. Weeded out a lot of hot heads. Me, I’m looking for patience and understanding.

DJing isn’t supposed to be overly serious. DJing wasn’t meant to support a generation of people financially. DJs aren’t meant to be idolized

It’s usually family money If someone managed to save up $100k in the SP500 in 1980, that would be worth $22 MILLION today The asset holders already won, and you’re never catching up. Best to accept that early
Somebody PLEASE explain how people are affording $100K trucks, $60K boats, $30K side-by-sides, and $1.2 MILLION houses on 20 acres… With 3 kids, 2 dogs, a cat, groceries, insurance, and a family to support. Meanwhile, the rest of us are doing math at the gas station before filling up our cars. WHAT DO THESE PEOPLE DO FOR A LIVING? 😭 Because at this point, I’m convinced somebody’s money laundering through a tractor dealership.

Kanye’s Nazi era was one of the only truly transgressive pop culture moments in decades Transgression is mass produced now, everything is a safe-horny simulacrum of rule breaking. But Kanye actually broke the rules and people lost their shit, an indicator of artistic genius

Friendly reminder that walking is a legitimate workout. The only reason it gets downplayed is because big fitness hasn't found a way to package, brand, and sell you outdoor air yet.

it is an unwritten rule of life that after every prolonged period of hardship and uncertainty, there is going to be a period when you are going to achieve quantum leaps across multiple areas of your life. the only requirement is that you do not give up on yourself.
So What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far this year?
