Free youth ministry book! I wrote a free PDF book that I’d love to share. It’s only 24 pages so it’s easy to download and easy to print. It’s called the Youth Ministry Toolbox and if you go to youthministrytoolbox.net you can request a free copy.

I’m starting to see it more clearly. The gospel isn’t “try harder to stop sinning.” That road ends in tiredness or pride. It’s about loving God so deeply that sin starts to lose its appeal. Obedience stops feeling like a burden and starts feeling like a response to love.

This might be one of the WILDEST plot twists in the entire Bible and most Christians have never heard of it. Check this out. There were two significant requests Moses made to God that were denied. First. In Exodus 33, Moses asks God, “Show me Your glory.” But God tells him, “You cannot see My face, for no one may see Me and live.” Request denied. Second. In Deuteronomy 3, Moses begs God to let him enter the Promised Land but because of his disobedience and failure to trust God, God tells Moses he will not enter. Request denied again. Now, fast forward to the New Testament. In Matthew 17, Jesus is transfigured on a mountain, and the Bible specifically tells us that his face shone like the sun. And guess who suddenly appears there with Jesus? Moses. Think about this. What is Moses finally seeing? He’s seeing… the face of God. The man who led the first Exodus and delivered his people from the bondage of Egypt is standing face to face with the One who would accomplish a greater Exodus, delivering sinners from the bondage of Satan, sin and death. The man whose face was radiant because of God’s glory (Ex. 34:29) is standing face to face with the One whose face radiates God’s glory (Matt. 17:2). In Deuteronomy 18:15, Moses tells the Israelites that God will raise up a prophet like him and commands them to “LISTEN TO HIM.” In Matthew 17:5: God the Father speaks to the disciples about Jesus and says “LISTEN TO HIM.” But wait… there’s more. Where is Moses standing? He’s standing… in the promised land. The very two things Moses had once been denied, God allows him to experience in the presence of Jesus. Two takeaways. 1. Sometimes God answers our prayer requests in ways that we do not expect. Whatever he has to offer us is infinitely better than anything we could ever imagine. 2. Our failures may have consequences, but in Christ, they don't have to have the final word. That’s why Moses’ failure didn’t have the final word. God’s grace did.

77% of all Christians surrender to Jesus as Lord and Savior before the age of 18! Student Ministry and Children’s Ministry isn’t about entertainment and babysitting. It’s about reaching the Next Generation with the Gospel. Honor those called to this kind of ministry.

I wrote a devotional for students based on the books of Daniel and Esther to encourage them to be courageous at the beginning of this new school year. It’s available at tinyurl.com/download9MMT - please share with the students, parents, pastors, and youth leaders, that you know!

Can’t wait to see this!
This may be my favorite images from The Chosen Season 6. There is so much being communicated without a single word. The crown. The chains. The hands. The silence. At first glance, it looks like Jesus has been defeated. Restrained. Powerless. But that is what makes this moment so powerful. He wasn’t being conquered. He was choosing to surrender... His life was given, not taken. I’ve looked at this image over and over, and it still gets me. Season 6 of The Chosen takes us into some of the most sacred, painful, and consequential moments of the greatest story ever told. And sometimes one image can say everything. Surrender.

I have 3 boys - this me hard! Wow…
God tells him to rule and subdue, You tell him to not be so rowdy and sit still. God tells him to tread down serpents and topple idols, You tell him to stop wrestling and fidgeting, God tells him to take down goliath with string and stones, You tell him to stop throwing things and making swords out of paper and wood, God tells him to speak loudly and boldly, You tell him to shhhhhsssss and be quiet. God calls him to take dominion of a dangerous world at war with his Heavenly Father, You tell him to stop doing so many "dangerous" things and making so much "war play" around the house and homestead and with the other boys. Ask yourself, in how you parent your sons, does it match the world and nature and calling God has given them? Image from Unsplash

YES! Good word right here!
The question isn't whether God is speaking. The question is whether you've gotten close enough to hear Him. Sometimes the breakthrough you're looking for isn't found in the spectacular. It's found in a closer walk with God.

WOW! So good!
If I could hear Christ praying for me in the next room, I would not fear a million enemies. Yet distance makes no difference. He is praying for me. — Robert Murray M’Cheyne

So good!
Heaven is not a reward for good people who tried their best. Heaven is a gift for broken sinners who put their faith in Jesus Christ. You cannot earn your way into eternal life.

WOW!!!
I’ve heard the saying that “God gives his toughest battles to his toughest soldiers.” But when I see the disciples that Jesus chose and suffered for His name sake, I don’t see Him choosing the “toughest soldiers”, as I learn about men and women in the past and even today who have laid down their lives for Jesus, once again I don’t see God choosing His “toughest soldiers.” But I see a strong and mighty God choosing weak men and woman, and empowering them by His Holy Spirit to face some of the toughest battles and be used for His glory. I once thought I was a “tough soldier” until I met Jesus, I then realized that I’m so weak without Him, and apart from Jesus I can’t do anything. I need Jesus daily. The only way that I can truly become who God wants me to be and truly do what God wants me to do, is not by my power not by my might, but only by The Spirit of The Living God. Thank you Jesus.

We all should ask, “What must I do to be saved?” We should also ask, “What must I do 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 I’m saved?” But we should never ask, “What can I do and 𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭 be saved?”

“Christianity is a religion of salvation, and the fact is that there is nothing in any of the non-Christian religions to compare with this message of a God who loved, and came after, and died for, a world of lost sinners.” —John Stott

Heaven won't be filled with "good people." It will be filled with forgiven sinners who repented of their sins and trusted in Jesus Christ alone for salvation.

“We are NOT a Christian nation!” “Separation of church and state!” “Benjamin Franklin was a deist!” On this date, June 28, 1787, Benjamin Franklin delivered his famous “Prayer Speech” at the Constitutional Convention. This is the one where Franklin, amid deadlocks and frustrations in the Convention, implored the delegates to begin sessions with prayer, acknowledging human limitations and seeking divine assistance. Here is the full transcript (from James Madison’s notes and standard historical sources, with minor spelling normalizations for readability): Mr. President: The small progress we have made after four or five weeks close attendance & continual reasonings with each other—our different sentiments on almost every question, several of the last producing as many noes as ays, is methinks a melancholy proof of the imperfection of the Human Understanding. We indeed seem to feel our own want of political wisdom, since we have been running about in search of it. We have gone back to ancient history for models of government, and examined the different forms of those Republics which having been formed with the seeds of their own dissolution now no longer exist. And we have viewed modern states all round Europe, but find none of their Constitutions suitable to our circumstances. In this situation of this Assembly, groping as it were in the dark to find political truth, and scarce able to distinguish it when presented to us, how has it happened, Sir, that we have not hitherto once thought of humbly applying to the Father of lights to illuminate our understandings? In the beginning of the Contest with G. Britain, when we were sensible of danger we had daily prayer in this room for the divine protection.—Our prayers, Sir, were heard, & they were graciously answered. All of us who were engaged in the struggle must have observed frequent instances of a superintending providence in our favor. To that kind providence we owe this happy opportunity of consulting in peace on the means of establishing our future national felicity. And have we now forgotten that powerful friend? or do we imagine that we no longer need his assistance? I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth—that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without his aid? We have been assured, Sir, in the sacred writings, that “except the Lord build the House they labour in vain that build it.” I firmly believe this; and I also believe that without his concurring aid we shall succeed in this political building no better than the Builders of Babel: We shall be divided by our little partial local interests; our projects will be confounded, and we ourselves shall become a reproach and byword down to future ages. And what is worse, mankind may hereafter from this unfortunate instance, despair of establishing Governments by Human wisdom and leave it to chance, war and conquest. I therefore beg leave to move—that henceforth prayers imploring the assistance of Heaven, and its blessings on our deliberations, be held in this Assembly every morning before we proceed to business, and that one or more of the Clergy of this City be requested to officiate in that service.
